Well, this is my first post on this site but i am very familiar with the internet forum deal. But enough with the small talk. I have a 95 sebring lx 420a 5 speed. I'm looking at wheels and tires. I'm thinking 18x7.5 or 17x7(the rims i'm looking at the 17's are about 60$ cheaper). i read +42mm is the correct offset on another post. Does that vary by wheel width? I would imagine it would.. So i guess what tires size will fit. To put out a ball park number of what i would like would be 215-235/40-50/18 I'd prefer a taller tire for one potholes, and two a little gear ratio help(every little bit counts right?). I don't think fifth gear is high enough(numerically low). I'm not sure what the effect of a taller tire on the speedo would be and would have no clue on how to correct it.

yes, the offset varies by wheel width. you don't have to be dead on with the offset, but you do want to be close to ease the stress on the suspension and wheel bearings. plus sizing tires is what this is all about. most want to keep the overall circumference as close to stock as possible. which means there ar e a lot of tire sizes to choose from. personally i don't think taller tires are the way to go..worse acceleration. but really, if you are worried about acceleration and gear ratios 18s and up are not the way to go unless you have too much money. too heavy. most here say 225/40 18 is the best size to go with, depending on rim width. 17s i'm not sure on.
Now i'd like to see some pics of some 17's and 18's to compare. Any directions to a site or would anyone like to make a picture post? Also maybe some more specifics on the offset if at all possible

do you want pics without a drop? here are my pics with eibach lowering springs and 215/40 18 tires. 7" wide rims but you really can't tell in the pics. i'd get a 7.5" wide rim. some places don't like mounting 225/40 tires on a 7" wide 18 rim and you can find more 225/40 tires since it is a more common size. i have pics before the springs but they look like ass. i can post if you'd like to see how bad 18s look on a stock height car.. http://www.wctc.net/~eight/gallery.html
First of all... Hello As for rims did you consider putting 19" on? I have a 00 Seb and together with 235/35/19 they fit withouth any mods. Below a link to a pic of my car.
