OIL LIGHT ON
« on: July 03, 2006, 05:35:53 PM »

i need help, my oil light is on in my 98 sebring.  it only comes on during an idle when the car is at operating temperature.  any info on this would be helpful.  the car has 207,000 miles and runs like it just came off the assembly line.  the guy who did the oil change claims it was 15w/40.  i think it was synthetic, but i am not sure.  I NEED HELP!!!

If it's only at idle, your oil pump might be taking a crap.

When you say it only comes on during the day, do you mean that it's only coming on when you turn your headlights on?

no, i mean it only comes on during daylight, when its hot out.  i talked to a friend of mine who works in a shop and he said that if it were the pump, the light would stay on all the time
