This morning I was on my way to work and I put the car in reverse and it was fine then I go to put into drive and the car didn't move so I put into a lower gear to see if would take off then and it wouldn't so a revved it to about 1500 to 2000 rpm then it kicked in. Its done it before but it has been a while ago but reverse works fine any suggestions?

The auto tranny blows.  It's known for problems.  You can do a search for similar problems with the tranny, but the best thing to do is get it flushed and you may need to get it replaced.

Sorry Bro I have a manual, you'll have to check with one of the other guys.  If you do a search for Tranny flush and read through you'll find someone to talk to about it.

have you checked to trans fluid? good level, color of fluid, smell ok..as in not burnt.
can't guarantee a flush is going to fix your problem, but htey usually start around $80 or so on the low end. if you get a flush, just be sure they put the correct fluid in. lot of places around here put their own brand x fluid in and then want to put some additive in it to make compatible with a chrysler transmission. not a good idea. atf+3 only. no additives unless it's mopar anti-foaming treatment.

no I haven't checked it yet but I have meaning too. Would taking it to the dealership and having it done be good since they probably have the right trans fluid?

the dealer is likely gonna charge you more to do the job. i'd just find a decent shop to do it, and while you're there explain the shifting problems you are having.

yeah, id suggest just check ur fluid at first...low fluid usually causes that to happen...then flush.

I think I paid 99 bucks for the flush and fill (they did not change the filter). The dealership wanted 179 bucks. Definately find a shop!

Sounds like the fluid to me too but you never know.  Ditto on what the guys above mentioned and check the dip stick for any stray metal flakes too.
I would recommend buying the MOPAR ATF+3 at the dealership and take it to a trusted independent garage to put it in....make sure no one there owns a Dodge also Wink.  The only downside to this is that you will have to buy enough for the flush and replacement.  ~$180 sounds safe to me in that "you get what you pay for" saying.  ~$80 difference on fluid is cheaper than spending $1000++ on rebuilding a tranny that's already weak.  But that's just me.
