Door handle
« on: June 04, 2006, 04:52:08 AM »

Well, my door handle has been broken for sometime. I had bought a new one and my dad helped me install it. And I think he must have warped the linkage putting it in. Then last week I finally took the time to take the door panel off and pull the mechanism out and bend the linkage back. It worked for like four days and it was the best thing ever. It's been nearly two years since it's worked and I was enjoying getting in my car from the correct side, and now the POS E-Bay door handle broke. It's been on the car for about six months but has only been used since last week and now it broke just like the first one. So my question is. I know when I bought the last door handle on ebay I saw repair kits on there for them that supposedly made them stronger than a new handle. Now that I need one I can't find them so if anybody knows where I can get one and if they work I would appreciate it. I can buy a new handle from work for about fifteen bucks but then I would still have  to get it painted, So I'm really just trying to avoid getting it painted. Thanx for the help.

I don't know about a repair kit, but I'm going to go with the metal handle if/when mine breaks. Jason had troubles getting these out to people, but from what I've seen, looks like they are getting out there now. Sorry to hear about your pos ebay handle, but thanks for the heads up on them.

I probably will eventually shave them. But right now I've got more important things that need to be fixed first. I think I got a bearing going, I still need a new rear view mirror. I just spent $300 to get my camber kit and have it installed, now I need to get it aligned, and I need at least 2 maybe even 4 tires plus theres no telling what else will break between all that. But maybe one day, till then I gotta get it fixed and I want it fixed right.

I just went ahead and spent the extra on an OEM door handle. I've had it on for over 2 years now and have had no problems with it all. I think you can even buy them already factory painted from the dealership in certain colors.

If I can get get it painted from the factory that may be the way to go. Depending on price. I can get the handle from work for $16. Don't know about the quality though.

I tried an aftermarket handle. The fitment is very very poor. They don't sit flush with the door. They kinda bubble out.

Thanx Nykon. I think that is what I'm going to do. I'll get the high polished ones and just replace them both. that way I won't have to get them painted. Lifetime warranty too; Can't beat that. Appreciate it a lot guys. Karma for everyone!

Dave mentioned metal door handles earlier and left a link. I tried to reach them at every e-mail address they had on their site, but I've not gotten any response. if anyone knows how to get ahold of them. i would appreciate the help.
