lots of drag when the windows are down, you can actually save gas using the a/c.
MythBusters- Gotta love 'em, they also proved that leaving your trucks tailgate up allowed air to flow easier over the truck creating less drag- would of never thought that would be the case.
didn't they prove that any speed above 55mph you get better gas mileage with a/c and any speed below 55mph you get better with the windows down? not sure why 55mph is the magic # but it kinda makes since that the slower you go the better gas mileage you'll get with windows down. There's less drag and, usually, when you're going slow you're in more stop-n-go traffic so the a/c would prob hender your mileage since you'll be accelerating more (and you'll have less power to do so with a/c).MythBusters- Gotta love 'em, they also proved that leaving your trucks tailgate up allowed air to flow easier over the truck creating less drag- would of never thought that would be the case.

I am getting awesome gas mileage now that I am riding my bicycle to work. I am actually getting better mileage with my car cause I am not making little 2.5 mile trips 4 times a day, I am only driving on the across town trips.
i hear that! my mileage SUCKS anymore b/c i only have to drive 5 miles to work rite now. doesn't help that the entire 5 miles i'm basically accelerating too… stoopid ppl pulling out in front of me or turning or traffic lights, etc. i need to get a bike! ppl keep talking bout "i wish i only had to drive 5 miles to work." i tell 'em no you don't… i've had more problems with my car and mileage since i started working where i do than i ever had, and i blame it on the lack of distance i have to drive. plus, i just like driving… it relaxes me (for the most part).
