I will try and make this as short as possible. I had gotten new tires on my sebring and had set up a time to get it lined up. Took it to the shop and he calls me back the next day and informs me I need a camber kit and new struts. So i put on new struts and a camber kit on the rear and front of my car and took it back to the shop to get it lined up. Well again he calls back and says my caster adjusters are froze i need new ones because they are froze and won't move. So i try to loosen them up and of course no luck. And ever since i tried to loosen them up there are been this metal to metal rubbing sound coming from the rear drivers side strut tower. So i climb back under the car and take another stab at loosing the the caster adjuster thinking that could be what is making the sound and I got the nut off but thats it. So I tried some penetrating spray on the eccentric bolt to loosen it up but it won't budge. Well anyway I cant find anything wrong, from what I can see nothing is rubbing.. HELP I can't figure it out..
i'm guessing you have lowering springs in? there is no caster adjustment on these cars. and the only reason you 'should' need a camber kit is if you lowered it..otherwise odds are good something is bent. it sounds like you are describing the toe adjusting arm in the rear. seriously, the mechanic should know that cannot adjust caster. what probably happened was the bolt froze in the bushing. i took a sawzall and cut the bolts off. there really isn't room to get an impact wrench on the bolt, an air chisel may break it loose but most of the time the bolt needs to be cut off. as far as the rubbing, could be the bushing is shot.
