hey all, i just bought a 95 avenger es as a daily driver and thought i'd stop in and say hi. The car has a lot of history to it, but nothing i can't deal with or fix. It's been in an accendent on the pasenger side and has some body problems to. It has 152,000 miles on it, but has a new trans. I bought it knowing it needed some work, but so far i've noticed more then i did at first. So far i see it needs valve cover gaskets, new tires, and exhaust gasket. Since i bought it..it failed emisions so I guess it needs a new cat, and new o2 sensors. It also kicked a SES light, so as soon as i figure out how to read the code, i have to fix that to. I also see it could use a new headliner, new drivers seat(leather is worn pretty bad), new carpet(allthough not to bad), the sunroof leaks a little so new seals or something, the driver side window doesn't line up all the time and has a air gap at the back side of the window. However it runs pretty darn good. A timing belt, spark plugs wires, valve cover and intake gasket, new brakes and possible struts are in the imediate future. So guess those are all questions to come later.
As for me, i'm 25 and into drag racing, hunting and fishing. I also have a 03 Silverado SS as a fun-daily driver-towing truck, and a 76 nova drag car. The SS runs 14.3 right now in the quarter but i'm looking to improve that to a 14.2-14.1 with a little more programing. The nova runs 12.2 on the motor and 11.4 on the bottle. Before the SS i had a 4.7l dakota that ran 15.28. Any one know what my avenger would run, in new form?

Hows it going Brad (shadowsniper300 ) I see u finally made ur way over from DT (mpulse) , anyways welcome and we'll help you get your Venge to where it needs to be.
It's pretty relaxing here, feel free to say whatever you want. No one's gonna judge. and um..if u like working hard on ur car to put some power and mod the hell out of it to ur personal desire, you chose the right car and you came to the right place. In new condition, you should run low-mid 17s with the avenger. it wll take a lot of work to get it to run like ur other rides, so good luck...Im doin the same thing..Ill let u know what Im doin if ur interested.

Welcome to the club Do yourself a favor and change your timing belt and water pump ASAP. This is rarely ever done when it should, and it get's ugly if it goes. Lots of info (search is your friend) and help is just a question away, not always the right answer, but we learn by trial and error
I ordered a gates timing belt kit, so i should be ok there, but i did not know the water pumps go bad to. I took the car in today for a suspension inspection and saw that i have a bad right front hub and bad left rear hub. Has any one done hubs, are they a pain? I also saw all the rotor baking plates are rusted through.
Thanks for link on the SES light. It keeps going on and off, but I figure that out later. Right now i'm already in over my head.

come on now nykon you kno we go way back..waaay back to umm...was it april I think?..see I cant even remember.
I say water pump only because when your doing your timing belt it is right there, so why not for $30. There is also a lifetime recall on ball joints, might want to get them looked at. Bad hubs, or bearings? I wouldn't think that they wouldn't be too tough either way, especially after seeing that Nova Nice!
how at 25 can you afford all those things!?! Not just money wise but time wise? Damn man. must be fun!!
well       AFFORD is a pretty broad term...but truth be told i got pretty lucky and found my career at 18 years old. I started in a tool shop at 18 and 7 years later and through the coarse of a toolmakers aprenticeship i'm still there. I'm also lucky to have a hard working wife with a great career as well. But with the economy the way it is right now, toolmakers are slowly being forced out of our trade. My company is a little unstable right now as well. And the nova was a project car my dad and i started when i was 13. So i did not pay for that, the time spent with him was worth it to both of us. We built it as a budget car to, there is not much pretty about it but it runs mint. I bet we have under 4000 in to the whole car. Can you believe that thing has been going stong for about 9 years on a stock chevy crank and stock chevy x rods. We had the motor internaly balanced, and had the crank re ground but it is stock. TRW forged flat top pistons, comp cam, AFR heads, performer intake, 750 holley flowed out to 825 cfm by the carb shop, headman headers, harland sharp roller rockers and a few other goodies and thats it. It ran 12.13 off the motor with cast iron Dart heads, then we put the roll bar in and the best we can get is 12.2 off motor with AFR heads.
