V6 Rebuild on a 97 Avenger - how much?
« on: May 08, 2006, 03:37:59 PM »

I've been planning for some time now to rebuild the engine in my 97 Avenger.  With summer comming up the time is quickly approaching and I need to start saving cash.  The engine has 190,000 miles on it so you can imagine the problems that need to be fixed.

I was wondering if you guys could give me a ballpark on the cost for such a job.  I would plan to do the mechanical stuff myself, while taking the heads in to have them rebuilt so all I would really be looking at are parts.

Thanks!

Depends on what all you're planning on having redone.  Are you going aftermarket with pistons and rods?

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

Honestly, I'm not sure.  It would depend on how much more they are.  I would hate to take the engine apart and not put something better in if they were only $100 more than OEM.  Foremost I need it to be running and reliable.

Depending on how much you're looking to spend do the 3.0 swap.

yeah, when My engine cant take anymore, I'll just upgrade to a better engine, thus making a lot less work and a lot more power. simple as that.

well...I wanna say 2 grand for everything including labor and parts, that's somewhat of an exile racing estimate. totaly worth it. I mean....200 horses...in your sebring or avenger...*drooling* rebuilding, you have to break your engine in again also...as if it was new....and umm...takes a lot more time. if you pay labor by the hour..that's gonna suck, there are a lot of cautions you have to take with putting things back together of course. The parts you have to replace can range anywhere between $100 to $1000 and that's not everything. so..right there I'd wanna guess $1000 more for almost 40 more hp...Id take that.

You don't need to touch the V6 rods...there good for atleast 450 hp

Talk to burn504 if you want a rebuild done.

Depending on what you want...$2,200-2,500 +shipping

CP Racing pistons
Machined to be full floating
ARP Rod bolts
Full balanced
Blueprinted

He can also have your heads ported and polished...custom cams...ext...
