04 Sebring conv. Brake help please
« on: April 28, 2006, 02:58:57 AM »

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I am on several others, so I know this is an excellent place for help. I did search all the brake posts but didn't find what I was looking for.

Heres the situation. After 33K mi., I replaced the brakes on my girls' 04 Sebring conv. The pads were o.k., but the rotors were shot. I went and got OE replacement stuff (for her, I would have done some sort of upgrade), Anyway, everything went good and the first 3-4 days there was no noise. Now, she says they're squeaking, but not when ON the brakes, but when she releases the pedal. I already put anti squeel stuff on the pads when I installed them. Any ideas? Her car was one of the easiest brake jobs I have done, and I thought everything was perfect. Please help. Thanks Huh

well, I just recently put my breaks on..and I'm guessing that the brakes dont retract fully for some reason or another. what I would do is take it off and make sure the piston goes all the way back in using a c clamp. THe squeaking IS a result of the breaks rubbing against the rotors. If that's not the problem..its nothing serious..you will just have to give it some time for them to wear..then they wont rub anymore...also check the brake clips. It couldnt hurt. THose can give a horrible screech if not perfectly aligned.
