haha..that was an awesome site!!...I even looked up some other cars by guessing numbers! anyway...I have the same problems at 80mph, cept my wheels dont feel like yours do when you turn, meaning I get the vibration...when I brake and when I'm above 80mph. FOr some reason..it started happening when I got to 65-70mph..and I figured it was getting worse. I got my engine tuned...and it started driving better...It only happens between 80&90mph for me. then it smoothes out.

jeremy's prob sounds like the ball joints or axle. yours however, sounds like it just needs an alignment or your tires re-balanced.

What about a wheel bearing? I think that could cause some of the shaking, if its not tight.

it could, but i'd still bet on it being either alignment, unbalanced tire, or a bad tire.

when I put snow tires on, I had an alignment done...my car ran the same...I had my wheels changed and balanced, still there...I'm not saying your wrong..cuz I need to get these new wheels aligned. I dunno, my wheels are currently uneven, so that might be the cause..Ill see.

Hey guys I have a similar question that I was hoping you could help me with.  I have a 1996 Sebring LXi coupe V6 and I am having a problem with the car shaking.  It doesn't get back until 45+ MPH and does not get any better as the speed increases.  I have replaced the lower lateral control arm ball joints and have new tie rod ends.  I also just put new front tires on the car so the balancing shouldn't be off.  One thing I do know is that the car needs new front struts but I highly doubt that has anything to do with it.  I suspect either wheel bearing or CV joint but I do not know a good way to check them.  There seems to be a rattle by the front passanger wheel when I hit bumps but I am not sure if that is related or possibly just because of the strut.  The struts are just starting to go bad so they aren't aweful yet.  I appreciate any advice.  Thank you.

To check the CV joints, I think you just have to turn the wheels all the way in either direction, stopping at the far right and left each time to look at the joint. The rubber boot will be oozing grease if there is a problem (I think....happened to me once!)

You could check the rear wheel bearings by jacking up the rear of the car, so that no load is on the rear wheels, and spin each wheel to listen for any kind of grinding. You obviously can't do the same with the front, due to the transmission...unless you can do it in neutral??? (Not sure)

Thanks I am planning on trying to check the CV joints tomorrow.  I have already replaced one of the rear wheel bearings.  This time it definately feels like something in the front.  My dad said to jack the front up and see if I can move the wheel up and down at all or notice any play in it to check the front bearings.  I dunno it if will work if they aren't really bad yet but its worth a try.  Thanks for the reply if anyone else has any advice feel free.

So far I have found that the rotor was really bent.  It looks like the person that had the car before me hit a curb or something so now I need to figure out if the wheal, wheal hub, and axle are bent.  Still not sure why it gets more violent when I am accelorating though.  Makes me think the axle is bent, it seems to have some shake in it.

If it helps anyone my problem was my wheel bearings and my cv joint.  I replaced the wheel hub assembly and the cv halfshaft and the car does not shake at all for the most part.  When I get around 100 Mph there is a little shake in the steering wheel but nothing that concerns me.

Slow down then!!!  Grin

I think the wheels might be just slightly out of balance, or the rim slightly bent. If it only hits at 100 mph, then its nothing serious.
