A harrowing experience..
« on: May 02, 2006, 11:34:11 PM »

Ya know..a week ago I had a dream that my car had a meltdown as in..everything from the back of the sunroof to the fron bumper was melted flat....see..thats not so bad..cept i had no insurance cuz I was working on it. But I called the insurance company and put the car back on..reported the accident a few dayz later..and bought a new sebring. Today..I called the insurance company to put the car back on the insurance...I made the call on my way home from class in my fiance's stratus and had my car parked. I went to drive my car and within 30 seconds it started SMOKING!..I noticed as I was gettin out since I was just moving my car...to take pics of the wheels I'm selling. Smoke was coming from the hood and the interior and that nasty burnt smell. I turned the car off and backed up a few feet to see if it would stop.. it slowed down a bit then I popped the hood to see that there was a loose wire connected to the battery and everything off the wire burnt off leaving just the copper to burn anything it touches...I eventually got it out when I disconnected it...um..the loose wire connected to the battery grounded when I moved my drivers seat forward, yeah the wire was sitting right there at the seat. and started burning. so now my carpet has a singed black/brown line in it..talk about scary...

Bummer, I caught mine on fire when I installed my amp.  Grounded out the positive battery terminal on the hood, fortunatly I caught it before it burned a hole through the hood but I remember a few members had not been so lucky.

You must have ESPN!

My buddies Monte Carlo SS (older) caught fire under the dash while I was driving one time...  was dripping melted flaming plastic on my feet.

damn!!..that didnt feel too good I bet...one of my friends ALMOST dropped superglue in his ear. He had an ear infection and they gave him some ear drops...he put it in a drawer next to his super glue...they bottles were identical in size and general color...the reason it didnt go in was cuz he realized it didnt come out as easy as it did last time he put his ear drops in..then he looked at the bottle...poor kid..woulda been deaf now...

OUCH....

My dad watched a guy who was welding over his head, drop a hot bead of steel down his coveralls....ALL the way down. He had 3rd degree burns from his neck to his toes...luckily he missed his "stuff."

Bummer, man, sorry to hear about your truck deal.  I have been hit by cars on a bike.  NOT FUN.  Hope your ok.

I also had a friend get gasoline in his ear.  He said that was the worst pain he has ever had.  I have to say I have been lucky.  I did tear my little tonail off and break my little toe in HS cause I stubbed it on the bathroom wall.  That was not a fun pain.

What were the details??  Speed and stuff like that?

I did 60-70MPH into the front end of a truck, on my motorcycle.  Didn't even break a bone.  I jumped off just as the bike hit the truck.  It was when I was 16, young and dumb on a bike.

it wasn't too bad. some old dude apparently didn't realize that a stop sign meant stop. it was in a residential area, so he was doing somewhere around 25. still went for a good ride across the blacktop though. and my very expensive, one month old bike is in the shop for a few weeks.
