Replace the solenoid.
2  Tech Forums / 6 Cylinder Tech / Re: New member... 97 Avenger runs like crap on: May 05, 2007, 07:22:23 AM
I'm not sure on the IAC but the TPS is easy to test. I don't think an EGR would cause a hard start condition. The IAC has to be adjusted properly. You may have already found the problem you just need to adjust it.

I wouldn't do a TC2 without the rest of the kit, it won't look right. Most like the Venge 97+ over the 95-96. I'm changing my 95 to a 97+.
4  Tech Forums / 4 Cylinder Tech / Re: Spark Plug Wires, are these overkill? on: May 05, 2007, 04:20:28 AM
I think any performance wire is overkill on a stock ignition. With any wire you really don't know it's performance without testing them. Some of the over the counter cheaper sets are actually better. A lot of it is just marketing crap.

I have a write-up on how-to install those if you want it.  I can e-mail it to you.

Worth every penny in my opinion. There's no other bolt on that gives me the same improvement at that price. It's not temporary for me, I'll just swap them if they need to be installed in another trans. I'll never do a 5 sp. swap either.

I paid more than that for my headers alone.

Well my trans was rebuilt by Roger who also makes the gears. Every A604 should have an aux cooler even if still stock. According to Roger the overdrive is really hard on the trans. The gears may actually make it run cooler with less wear. I dunno.

There's a guy on ASEC that has them and drives a lot of highway but he's got a built trans and huge cooler.

The way I see it an A604 is gonna break sooner or later (especially if you're hard on it) might as well get the most out of it. Now if I start breaking transmissions every 10,000 miles, I might change my mind. Or not  Smiley
8  Tech Forums / 6 Cylinder Tech / Re: EGR blocking on: May 03, 2007, 04:51:34 PM
Mine is blocked off because of my headers, my CEL comes on once in awhile usually on deceleration around 50mph. The check engine light will go off when the car is restarted. Just block it off at the plenum and leave everything else as is.

Personally unless you have headers I'd leave it alone.

10  Tech Forums / Suspension and Brakes / Re: 98 avenger lower front tie bar? on: March 16, 2007, 10:59:38 PM
As far as I know the only one is part of the D3 Kit, which I have.
11  Tech Forums / 6 Cylinder Tech / Re: my car won't start on: February 15, 2007, 07:49:21 AM
If you still have the old O2 try hooking that one back up and see if it starts.
12  Tech Forums / Suspension and Brakes / Re: lug nut torque on: February 06, 2007, 07:41:58 AM
I'm with Bad Venge on this one. I always torque mine to 90 and I have aftermarket wheels anything below that, I think is too little.

Well there is no benefit to the sound, it just makes that sound due to it being open.
14  Tech Forums / Suspension and Brakes / Re: passenger side half-shaft removal on: January 28, 2007, 09:33:00 AM
The passenger side doesn't have a clip. It's a 2 piece axle. The arrow where you're told to pry is a bracket that is bolted to the block, it has a bearing in it.
15  Tech Forums / Suspension and Brakes / Re: passenger side half-shaft removal on: January 27, 2007, 07:01:55 AM
Are you saying you can't get the axle out of the center bearing? Meaning the bracket that's bolted to the block? I don't remember having to do anything special to remove mine, might have been tight but it came off.
