The All Mitsu Cookout is upon us. Only 48 hours away now! We've got 174 sign ups. I'm sure that will climb a little more. And even if you get up on Sunday and decide, "Jeez, I should go to that Cookout thingy", you can still show up the day of the show and register and pay. We can handle walk ups.
When you get to the Rogers Middle School, turn right at the stoplight. That front lot is for the participants. If you are coming just to spectate, or you don't have a Mitsu, you should park in the spectator lot. So drive past the stoplight and take the next right. The lot behind the school is for spectators. Here is a map to help: http://mn3s.org/cookout-map.jpg
As I mentioned before, we'll be doing a slow drags competition around 2:30pm. Anyone can enter. You try and go from one point to another as slow as you can without stopping or hitting the brakes (e-brake included) Longest time wins a t-shirt. We'll ask for a $2 fee to enter the slow drags. Should be a lot of fun.
You can still pre-pay me the $5 registration fee. Send a paypal to cgendron@mail.com If you don't have paypal, don't sweat it. Just pay at the show.
Also, you can be prepared by making your car sign before the show. And bring a lawn chair for hanging out. The weather is looking great too. The Cookout goes from 11am to 4pm this Sunday. Get ready for the biggest and best All Mitsu Cookout yet!!
The All Mitsu Cookut is right around the corner. Its this Sunday! We've had a big surge in sign ups. We have 162 cars signed up now. Thats great! If you are still planning on coming, its not to late to sign up.
If you are coming to the Cookout, here are some reminders:
4) Bring some lawn chairs for hanging out and bring your appetite! We'll have plenty of food.
Also, if you are just coming to spectate, there is a seperate spectator lot on the back side of the school. So don't turn at the stop light at the school. Go past that and take your next right and go behind the school. The lot behind the school is for specators. The front lot is for participants.
Once again, here are the classes for the show this year:
Best 90-94 DSM Best 95-99 DSM Best 00-05 Eclipse/Stratus coupe Best 91-93 3/S Best 94-99 3/S Best Evo Best Classic Mitsu (89 and older) Best Other Mitsu The "Gene Helms" Cleanest Car Overall
And finally, we are going to have a little fun competition this year. We are going to have a slow drags race. Two lines will be drawn in the parking lot. (40 feet apart) The objective will be to go from one line to the next as slowly as possible without stopping or hitting your brakes. Those with really soft clutch pedals will have good cars for this race. We'll probably do the slow drags around 2:30pm. So practice driving like a granny.
Not much time until the Cookout. I was adding up the sign-ups, and came up with some interesting stats. I added up the numbers (134 sign ups) and came up this breakdown:
Not too much new to report. We've got 108 sign ups. The car show categories will be the same as last year. They include:
Best 90-94 DSM Best 95-99 DSM Best 00-05 Eclipse/Stratus coupe Best 91-93 3/S Best 94-99 3/S Best Evo Best Classic Mitsu (89 and older) Best Other Mitsu The "Gene Helms" Cleanest Car Overall
Thanks to those that sent a paypal in the last week or so. I've had a bunch of them. Looks like we have 97 sign ups. The updated list is at: http://mn3s.org/cookout-list.html
We are still on pace to get around 150 cars there, which is awesome. But don't forget to keep bugging your friends that own Mitsus. Lets try and get as many cars as we can together. Its gonna be fun!
We've had a lot of sign ups in the last week. We have 64 cars signed up so far. That's great. I also have a flyer put together at: http://www.mn3s.org/cookout-flyer.doc
I always keep a hand full of these in my car in case I spot a nice Mitsu somewhere. Also, if you work at a business that is car oriented, maybe print a few off and have them laying on your counter or pin one up. Any advertising you can do will help. Every year we get a few people that come to the Cookout that had no idea it existed before they got a flyer.
Plans are underway for the 2007 All Mitsubishi Cookout and Car Show. This year's event will be happening on Sunday, August 26th, at the Rogers Middle School, in Rogers, MN. The event will run from 11am to 4pm. We've got our two main sponsors on board again, Brookdale Mitsubishi and LSE Performance. I'm also confident that we'll beat last years record of 142 Mitsus. All the details about the All Mitsu Cookout can be found at: http://cookout.mn3s.org
Thanks to all who came out to the Cookout. It was a great event. We had 142 cars in the show. I especially want to thank all the volunteers I had this year. Chris D, Ross, Andy P, Dave, Steve, Matt D, Ed, John S, Oskar, Mike W and of course Stacy. You were all part of the success of this event. I actually had time to go look at the cars and enjoy the afternoon.
Also a big thanks to LSE Performance and Brookdale Mitsubishi. If you wonder why this Cookout is so cheap, our sponsors are the reason why. (or maybe its because I use bricks and duct tape to create signs)
The All Mitsu Cookout is almost here!! Its tomorrow at the Rogers Middle School. The event runs from 11am to 4pm. I know the weather forecast doesn't look too great, but its a rain or shine event. We'll have a ton of cars, great prizes, and lots of food!! Don't let the weather deter you from coming. Its still a kick ass event.
We've got 150 cars signed up now. Bring your lawn chair, your appetite, your camera, and a little bit of good luck. You'll need the luck so you can win some of the nice prizes we have to give away.
When you get to the school, take the first right where the stoplight is. If you are coming just to spectate or don't have a Mitsu, don't turn at the stoplight. Keep going and take the next right turn. Drive around the school and park in the lot for the buses. Its just a short walk from there over to the main lot.
4) Print a map so you can find the Rogers Middle School. I'll have dunce caps ready for anyone who goes to the car museum by mistake.
5) Bring a lawn chair for hanging out on Saturday.
When you get to the Rogers Middle School on Saturday, pull into the first entrance at the stop light. This front parking lot is where the cars will be displayed. If you are just coming to spectate or you don't own a Mitsu, don't pull into the front lot. Take the next right and drive around the school to the back lot where the buses park. This lot is pretty close to the main lot and its not very far to walk.
We have eight classes for the Cookout and we have eight rows in the parking lot. So each class will have there own row. I'm not sure yet which category will be in each row, but it will be clearly marked when you get there on Saturday.
New this year is my homemade PA system. No need for FRS radios anymore. Prize announcing and trophies will be done with the PA system. Also, I'm gonna change the registration line. There will be two lines this year. A line for 3/Ses and DSMs, which I will do, and another line for the rest of the classes (Ross and Chris D will do). Hopefully this will speed up registration.
Also, here are the classes for the show this year:
Best 90-94 DSM Best 95-99 DSM Best 00-05 Eclipse/Stratus coupe Best 91-93 3/S Best 94-99 3/S Best Evo Best Classic Mitsu (89 and older) Best Other Mitsu The "Gene Helms" Cleanest Car Overall
In the last couple of weeks I've had a lot of people think that the All Mitsu Cookout is at the car museum. It is NOT there. The All Mitsu Cookout is at the ROGERS MIDDLE SCHOOL.
I sure hope we don't have people going over to the museum thinking its there. A map to the middle school is on the main Cookout page.
