I don't have any problem with shipping to Canada. I just can't offer it free like I can to the US.
Ahhh... that makes perfect sense. I just bristled at 'no Canada shipments'.
I do agree with USPS instead of FedEx or UPS though. We get soaked on customs (charges and excessive delays) going through them, though they do offer the tracking, which is nice so neither party can start playing the blame game.
Is your CEL burned out? Check that it lights up for a second or two when you first turn the key to the run position. (Not like that solves the larger issue, but hey, at least you'll know...)
To check if it's the battery shorting in the corner just do it with your dome lights on and see if they go out (or flicker) momentarily when you throw it into the turn.
According to the review at alpine-usa.com, using just the controls on the head unit you have access to either a 5-band parametric EQ or a 7-band graphic. Graphic equalizers are what most people are familiar with, so try switching to that mode and seeing if you have better luck.
Parametrics give more control if you're tuning around specific response limitations of your system but are tougher to figure out for just general 'mucking about' with the sound of your music. My CDA-9831 has a parametric and I've never gotten it to work right... I suppose if I actually took the manual out to the car to walk through it, but that's just too much like work.
I need help deciding what to do with her now. Part her out and crush her or fix her for a dd... thats why she is sitting in storage on all spare tires 2 hours away... every time I see her though I can't bring myself to kill her.
Mine sat in mom's garage for 13 months while I struggled with the same decision and drove a (hated) Buick Allure (aka LaCrosse) I inherited from dad. I finally decided to put the cash into keeping her and gave myself a budget of $10k to be payed off when the Buick sells. I'm now sitting at about $16k after several unexpected failures/costs (exhaust, suspension and transmission) but feel like I can't walk away after putting that much into it, and now something else has just gone wrong on it (lower lateral control arm bushing's disintegrated). Sigh. Still, I hope you keep her, and I wish you better luck when you do!
The 95 wiring diagrams show two 7-pin connectors into the factory decks:
The black connector (B48) has pins numbered 1-7:
1 - Unknown, White with black marking (runs to factory amp, probably radio on indication) 2 - Rear Left+, Yellow with blue marking 3 - Rear Right+, Yellow with red marking 4 - Front Left-, White with blue marking 5 - Front Right-, White with red marking 6 - Rear Left-, Grey with blue marking 7 - Rear Right-, Grey with red marking
The grey connector (B49) has pins numbered 11-17 (wtf???):
11 - 12 - Front Left+, Black with blue marking 13 - Front Right+, Black with red marking 14 - 15 - Taillight relay, Green with white marking 16 - Accessory power (fuse 11), Blue 17 - Fixed power (fuse 10), Red
Yeah, I didn't know there was such a thing as flex neon either... now I wonder what Ivan-style angel eyes made of flex neon would look like on a white car? And if I wired them to my daytime running light circuit (high beams at half power whenever the headlights are off, it's a Canada thing), could I legally disable the runners? Hmm...
