one of my buddies does metal work and his father has the equipment
8  Tech Forums / 6 Cylinder Tech / Re: 5-speed swap question on: April 11, 2008, 10:21:25 PM
i wont be using the ckp sensor from the 3.0, ill be using the one from the 2.5 along with a plate with the same pattern as the flexplate. The ecu should not be able to tell that the 2.5 has even been replaced
9  Tech Forums / 6 Cylinder Tech / Re: 5-speed swap question on: April 11, 2008, 10:01:07 PM
it shouldnt matter which signal the 3.0 used to put out as long as the avenger ecu gets the one its looking for, and also that its actually where the pistons are of course

well the only way to find out is to try so...
10  Tech Forums / 6 Cylinder Tech / Re: 5-speed swap question on: April 10, 2008, 01:51:13 PM
yeah i know that the avenger v6 crank sensor gets its signal from the driveplate in the trans and the eclipse runs off the engine flywheel but i figured since these engines have the same stroke i could duplicate the signal that the 6g73 makes using a plate mounted to the crank pulley with the same notches in it that denote cyl #1 TDC and so on, and relocate the crank sensor outside the trans using a bracket, the ecu would never know the difference and the engine would truly be turned the way it should be

i'm gonna be working on it all this month if i have any problems i'll probably be right back here, or i'll give disturbing motorsports a call like you suggested...i called them once before when i ordered mounts and they were very friendly and helpful
11  Tech Forums / 6 Cylinder Tech / Re: 5-speed swap question on: April 10, 2008, 04:05:43 AM
ok. custom axles

we'll see with the crank sensor, i have a friend who's done similar "tricks" and ive got a few ideas but i'll keep you updated with how it goes
12  Tech Forums / 6 Cylinder Tech / 5-speed swap question on: April 09, 2008, 10:29:15 PM
Just about to start a 6g72/5-speed swap with a pretty good idea of how to tackle this project, except for one thing... does anyone know if any stock axles can be used with the eclipse 5-speed tranny (or custom axles). I know there has to be length and spline issues there but i'm not sure if anyone has this figured out yet. Any input would be helpful before i try to figure this out myself. Thanks
