Nice progress! Did you make that battery box? I only ask because it doesn't look like any of the ones that I've seen online. It does, however, look very professional and I like it!
That's awesome, when was this started? I know there was another silver 96 waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day that was sold or was trying to be sold and it was setup as a drag car with the stock body.
Isn't that the car that the wheels turn 90 degrees so that you can park against the curb without parallel parking? That would explain why the cabin is turned 90 degrees.
One thing to remember is that the Avenger/Sebring does not come with HP or the option to make it easily nor represent power. Those cars that were previously mentioned do however, whether it's through a same brand motor swap, upgrades, or turbo add on (not as "cool" though). If there were more than 5 4g63 AWD swaps or even just the 4g63 swaps into our cars, the Avenger/Sebring would make a good mag spread, just because of it being noticed by the general public. The 1G-2G AWD/FWD turbo has already been in several spreads so we know that there's something there and if our cars came with the 4G63 from the start, we would have been in the same spotlight. Cheap, new, and powerful, if a car fits any two of those catagories it'll catch a mag writer's eye as those other cars do.
Wow, I leave for a little while and come back to this. That's awesome! So, will this V8 Avenger be streetable or will this be a 1/4 mile car? Just curious.
If it's a daily driver, he might want it. That big ol' heavy motor on top of the steering wheels...he'll be Popeye (in one arm) before he knows it, lol. The power steering is only parasitic to lower powered motors anyway (yes, there is power loss from it, just not really noticable).
Sounds like the fluid to me too but you never know. Ditto on what the guys above mentioned and check the dip stick for any stray metal flakes too. I would recommend buying the MOPAR ATF+3 at the dealership and take it to a trusted independent garage to put it in....make sure no one there owns a Dodge also . The only downside to this is that you will have to buy enough for the flush and replacement. ~$180 sounds safe to me in that "you get what you pay for" saying. ~$80 difference on fluid is cheaper than spending $1000++ on rebuilding a tranny that's already weak. But that's just me.
If the ECU reads the boost, it sees it as a lot of air coming in and it will try and compensate by adding fuel. N/A ECUs just aren't good at controlling fuel when you add too much air past it's threshold. That's why there are SAFCs and the likes, they control the fuel and trick the computer into seeing in and around it's threshold so that you're not constantly fighting to keep a AFR of 14.5-14.7 at idle/half throttle and 11.1-ish at WOT. There's a little bit of room in our bays...for a very built I4, lol. You're right though, the 2.5 is shoehorned into there. Oddly there is still room, just not a lot and to add stuff into an already cramped area is not easy. The driveshaft of the S/C has to be accommodated for too...it's pretty long from what I understand. The 3g Eclipse and whatever gen the 2dr Stratus is, just has more depth than our bays, not much more, but enough.
