The A604's woes are well documented. The transmission was apparently used in rally cars but the consumer version seemed to have issues. The shift kit is meant to be a preventative correction to some of these issues. From what I'm told it's an easy install for a transmission guy and is not a bad thing to add to a bill if your say adding a trans cooler already. I just never got around to it.
Since we're on the topic -- i traded in my venge this Jan and put up my winter tires, lugs, hubs, steelies for sale. Check sale forum (yes I'm x-posting!)
151K miles on mine when I traded it in this January. v6 2.5L '95 manufactured june '94 (it had some odd stuff on it) Basically when I traded it in: engine & transmission perfect, had one timing belt & spark/plugs change (distributor went at 74K). Microlon at ~85K made a noticeable 2-3mpg improvement. I was still pulling 29-31mpg @ 2500rpm highway in the summer.
Basically all the parts around engine/trans fell apart. 1) Sunroof stopped opening & closing on command. 2) body rust, passenger door bottom was rusting through 3) beginning to overheat (last straw, didn't investigate, prolly thermo). 4) wheel alignment was always out of whack 5) trunk refused to open from outside. 6) door hinge driver's side door made it so it trapped the window above weatherstripping -- common issue I think? 6) Blower bearings were going -- audible noise coming when on beyond 2 points 7) Headlight fogging -- redid the headlighs 2x.
That said it still ran and ran well. I'll miss the car and yes I do realize I coulda put about 1K into it and fixed it all -- it just seemed time to move on though.
The subject says it all -- pm me with any questions. I'm not sure what shipping would be on these. Looking for $250 for the entire set in the New England area so we can avoid shipping. I'm guessing shipping will add another $200 or so to it???
*edit* Also extra set of lug nuts
After 8 years I finally sold my '95 Avenger. At the time it only had 151K miles and had hardly been driven in two years (hence it was sold).
I have a few other parts as well that I'll put in another post!
Good Luck to ASOG in the future! This was definitely my home for a long time (haven't posted in about 4 years now)
