He hit the same gas stations too frequently.  The gas stations noticed that they were being burgalerized and started watching the pump levels.  Around 930am (just making times up) they noticed a huge drop in their supply, so they watched a video and noticed the only thing that was weird a large truck not filling up, parked right over the gas storage.  And the go back and watch all the tapes and see that he was there on the days they were being drained.

Make sure it's not premixed antifreeze if you do it that way! 

Going off experience.  When my fuel pump wasn't priming unless I gave it direct voltage, I replaced the ASD and had no more problems.  This is for the I4 though.

You do lose a small bit on the bottom end, but it's worth the gain on the top.  The OBX intake you need to have some adaptation done for the sensor placements.  It's a tight fit against your firewall.

ASD stands for Auto Shut Down.  It's possible, but if it was shot your fuel pump wouldn't prime.  Your car has 176000 miles, have you ever changed your timing belt?
