Have you had the recall done on the front end ???If not hsave that done FIRST ....

Next check the axle/CV joint

Recall was completed in 2002, according the the dealer lookup. the axle, and CV joint are still in good working order, and I'm not seeing anything wrong with that.

Have your ABS system checked, that's the only thing you haven't done.  The ABS pulses and that could be what you feel.  Also loosen your lug nuts and retorque them since shops air gun everything and never use torque wrenches and they could have warped your new rotors.  Sorry this post is so short...but this whole "you've already posted" crap just screwed me up.

I am looking in the ABS now, the rotors were put on by a torque wrench, I put them on. they are torqued correctly so, IU highly doubt that's the problem.

I've had the car about a year, and I am not sure if the old owner had the recall done, I will call the dealer in the morning.

Thanks, I will keep you posted if that's the problem.

I am in need of some advice on my 99' Avenger.

I believe I am having a problem with either my brakes or possibly the suspension.

When I put the brakes on in my car, it feels like a rocking motion, like if you were slamming the breaks on even when your not..

some things I have tried to fix the problem are:
-Rotating Rotars, turning rotars, replacing rotars.
-New break pads, new shoes.
-And recently put in new wheel bearings.

However, I am still having the same problem, only its getting worse.

If anyone has any ideas on this, please shoot the ideas my way....

Thanks in advance.

my guess is the last time I got my brakes done, the people didn't tork the bolts. Sad

I replaced the bolts, so far, that is appearing to be the problem. I test drove it earlier, and its not making any noises or anything so hopefully thats all it was

so, I took off the wheel and what not, there are two bolts missing, from where the horseshoe part is that hold the breaks.
Going backwards it works, going frontwards it hits the wheel.

Could this possibly be the culprit??

So I was going down the highway in the avenger. I hear like something snapped under the car.

I look around, under the car, around the car and whatnot. I see nothing wrong with the car so I start back up and drive to work, I was like a 1/4 away.

So on top of what was wrong with the car, I now have a locked Passenger Front Tire, No brakes.

Any Ideas what the crap happened to my car?

I have tried replacing everything you have mentioned to me. I am at a loss now, driving the old car, that's unreliable and driving an hour to work everyday.

I had to get the avenger towed home, and Monday having it towed to a shop to fix it, because I am screwed, I can't figure it out, and I need my daily driver to be reliable again.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

generally, the noise only makes it known when ever I turn right.

I want to say the squeak is coming from the wheel assembly, but I am not sure.
14  Tech Forums / 4 Cylinder Tech / Re: 99 Avenger Help! on: March 15, 2006, 01:14:37 PM
It is a squeak. When I move the steering wheel, it sqeaks loudly. It mostly does it when I turn right. the squeak goes away after the car heats up if that makes any sense at all. But even when the car is up in the car it squeaks.

however there is a squeal, but I figured that part out already.

even with no weight on it, it still sqeaks.

I just don't get it.
