Since I have exhaust put on , I am able to 'hear' What's going on with how my car shifts. From time to time when it shifts(I've noticed from 3rd to 4th) It kinda jerks a lil bit, the engine Revs a little high, then you feel it shift in to 4th.
I know what you are talking about, and it is normal. At least for every other venge ive driven. When accerating slowly enough to like 65mph, the car will go 2nd, 3rd, then 3rd with torque converter lockup, then the TC will disengage from lockup right before entering 4th gear, to give you a little gearing boost when coming upon 60mph. That 'revving' you hear before 4th is just the TC disengaging from lockup. It is very prevailent on cars with exhaust because you can hear everything.
And as for whomever said avengers are not slow because they can do 130+, thats no the point. Its how fast you achieve 130mph is what makes a car fast or slow.
When i was driving today, i reversed in a parking lot and when i put it into drive, the engine didnt hesitate, but the transmission did. Like the torque converter was trying to grab but it kept slipping. When at a stop, and releasing the brake, without giving gas, it would creap forward in spurts at a time, once again, like the trans was not grabbing. It did this the entire trip to town wethere i was giving it gas or not. Once it got rolling, it seemed ok, but shifted weird, like at 2k, and thats about as high as it would shift... I turned the car off, and then turned it back on, and everything became 100 percent normal..... Should i worry? Anyone else ever have this issue??
I have a 6 pass auxillary cooler, and when its like 40 degrees or less it always seems to shift sluggishly, and i know its because the fluid doesnt even get to 100 degrees according to my temp sensor.... Will this hurt the tranny? I NEVER push it hard in the winter.... SHould i remove the auxillary cooler till winter is over?
Argh... I cant figure this one out... Ok, i just replced my head gaskets last year, not because they needed them, but just because i guess.... Never had a problem with anything..... My car has never ever over heated....
Then i smack a deer in the hip at 65mph....
I have to replace the radiator, which i got at a junkyard.... Now 2 mos later after replacing the radiator, im getting drops of oil sitting on top of the colant, or so it looks like oil. Like 10 or 25 tiny tiny drops i can see when i squeeze the top radiator hose with my cap off.....
So i completely flush my system yesterday, to the point where it was clean water coming out, and today, still the little spots of oil in the coolant....
My oil is exactly where its supposed to be, and with 1500 miles since my last oil change, shes still clear, not brown or chocolatey....... I havent sprayed in over 6 months, and i never romp on it in the winter, like 4 grand at most.... so what the fuuuk??? Think its head gasket? Im stating to lean that way... Either that or my radiator i unburied from the junkyard still has a ton of oil in it after flushing my system.....
no, no damage could really result from that. Your temp reading sound good, and it should hit higher temps in the summer.. Just make sure your fluid goes from tranny, to stock cooler, to auxilary cooler, and then back to tranny, not the other way around. My sender is tapped right after the out port of he tranny, you dont want to hook it up after the coolers, because all that shows you is what the cooled fluid going in to the tranny is.
Yes, misfiring and no cruise control could DEFINITELY be related. Cruise control works by using vacuume, and if one of the vacuume lines is cracked or fell off, it would cause a leak that could result in missing and sputtering as well as no cruise control....
The transmission pan seal was leaking a little, so I had the fluid and filter changed but not a "flush". This was done about 2 months prior to the limp mode problem.
Where did you get it flushed? More than likely they put dexron type tranny fluid in it, which may cause the limp mode... If that is the case, get it flushed ASAP..... I would suggest buy Mopar atf+3 at a dealership and take it to a shop and request a flush with your own fluid, thats what i always do to make sure im getting the correct fluid every time. Could also be a sensor, any good reputable transmission shop should be able to diagnose a limp mode error, and tell you what would be needed to be fixed... Good luck, i too have a 95 and they are prone to more issues due to outdated materials (solenoid packs, valve bodies, etc.) which were all upgraded in 96, and then 98 i believe.
its been 1000 miles since my last oil change, and the oil is still clear... no oil floating in the coolant, just particles of crap..... I dont know what you meant by 'checking the head', other than meaning to check the oil for impurities. I doubt its headgasket because i have been nice to her allll winter, and havent sprayed since june when i was last at the track... How much do places charge for steam cleaning of the coolant system? I dont like people touching my car, but i dont have a steam cleaner, and it sounds interesting......
Misfiring is a totally different story, i run through caps and rotors every 3 months due to ignition....
Cool, it just freaked me out because i havent looked under the hood for a couple of months other than an oil change because of it being 20 degrees out. Ill flush her again... Just weird.... Oily dirt is scary....
Ok so, ive never had this problem before, but ive noticed a black scummy oily type scum in my coolant reservoir in one of the sides, like dirt... It is also present on where the coolant cap meets the coolant neck by the thermometer.... Like a dirty ring. Now there is NO floating oil in the coolant, all i see is dirt particles, maybe stop leak??? My headgaskets were done at exile about a year ago, but i DID just get a radiator from a junk yard, i flushed it out as much as i could with a garden hose, but it was pretty caked with mud.... DO you think this scum is from the new radiator? Should i be worried? Does anyone else have this problem??? Its just very weird that the scum is only on ONE side of the coolant reservoir, and ONLY on the o-ring of the coolant cap... I dont know, im probably worried over nothing, but the coolant is brownish, looks like theres stop leak in it, does stop leak turn black when it heats up and seals???
I just installed a trans temp gauge, and everything is wired correctly, but i drove around last night fo an hour and the needle on the gauge did not lift at all, it just stayed at 0. The first available line for it is 100 degrees, and i have the stock cooler on top of the auxillary cooler, and it is 40 degrees out here in ohio. Is the trans not achieving 100 degrees do you think? Or do you think it may be a bad sender? Any insight would be appreciated....
