Thanks, guys... I actually don't really mind pulling the motor out again...I guess it would only cost me marginally more money to get the gasket set again.  However, the guy working my engine does not want to do it again...and even if we fixed the leak, I can't explain why it sounds 'clunky'...like the timing is slightly off, even though we checked and doublechecked that everything was based off of TDC.

I'll see what that guy is willing to do..he suggested that I ride it for 1K miles and see if things seat in a bit, and how much oil I leak.

Well, I think my bubble bursted.  The car is together but it doesn't seem to run any better, and actually seems to have more problems than before I started this.  I have oil leaks around the valve cover area (probably easy fix), but also on the lower block a bit above the oil filter....where we had to put metal on metal, with just some sealant.  My friend said that he doesn't know how to fix it w/o taking the engine totally out again, and that's not an option.  Anyone know how to take the lower part of the engine block off?  Is that a lot of work?

In addition, the engine sounds noisy and overall, my car is just really noisy with that walbro fuel pump.  Overall, a pretty big disappointment.

I was looking to fixing her up (adding the 8 injector setup, 3" full exhaust, suspensions, repaint, etc.., but with the engine like it is, I don't want to invest all that $$$ and have the engine work the way it is...so I'm not sure what I'm going to do...

I do love these cars, but it's already been a drain on me financially...and frankly, I've lost a lot of my enthusiasm now.  This is the first time I've ever thought about selling her...even when it was on blocks for 4 years, I always thought that one day, I would fix her up to almost new condition...well, it does not look like that will occur.

Would you consider selling it for parts?  I'd be interested for only parts since I'm rebuilding my own car.

Hi,
was wondering if you would consider selling the 8-injector setup (all parts) and how much you would part it out for? Send me a message, if you wish.

Thanks.

Well, after over 4 years of the Sebring on blocks in the back yard, I've been working with a friend to bring my baby back to life. Today, we finally started the car...after a few scares of it not turning over, and then running rough, we finally got it to run pretty good.  There's an oil leak we'll need to work on and the clutch feels like it needs to be adjusted, but it runs!

I couldn't help it and had to test the rebuilt turbo....I surely did feel it kick in!!  I can't wait to break it in a bit and get it on the road.  What a long and hard journey for me it's been.   It's funny that I've not been in the car for over 4 years, and I had a few switches that I couldn't remember what it was for.  When it didn't start, I thought that I had a kill switch that perhaps I forgot to turn on.    Well, the switches were for my subwoofer and my LED lights in the vents!   Grin   It's all coming back.

Now the thing is I have to get my a/f mixture right...I guess what I heard back then is no longer valid.  We shouldn't run the SAFC/SFMU with the 420a???  Folks are talking about the 8 injector setup...don't know much about it, but looks like it's going to cost me an additional $1K at least, so I don't think I'll be doing that for now....if anyone has had my setup and has now gone with another setup...can you tell me if it was worth it???  PLEASE??

Anyways, still got more work to do on the SEBRING, but it felt really good to drive it...it was noisy as hell because of the Walbro 255liter fuel pump...anyone else have this problem and know what I can do?

I'd like to thank everyone who've answered my stupid questions on this forum and a special shout out to Darktengu for my numerous questions that he worked me through.  Thanks, Brutha.

Hopefully, I'll be back on the road in a few weeks with everything straightened out...

I can't believe how quite it is on ASOG nowadays.  Before, it seems like we would get new threads in every category every few minutes.  Now, it seems like months can go by with little or no action.  Makes me feel so sad...and I'm guilty of it as well..

In any case, it's good to hear some of you guys are still around...I do get a little bit of comfort just knowing there are other proud ASOG'ers/ASEC'er(??) still lurking.

Hoping someone responds to this so I won't feel so lonely...especially if you're in SoCal.   I feel so overwhelmed by honduhs around me...

You're not the Josh that came to SoCal awhile ago and hung out with us in Venice Beach, are you?  Well, regardless, welcome back.

I'm the same...not been on the board for a LONG time...my ride is actually not running  Sad, but that should not be a reason to hang out here on this board.  It's kinda good to see that after all this time, I still recognize a few names on both boards.

I would suggest finding someone that has a i4 turbo Sebring/Avenger or Eclipse.  This will give you a more accurate feel if you put a turbo  on yours.  If you test drive an evo and expect that your Avenger will behave the same, you'll probably be disappointed....unless you spend hella $$.

I had a 97 i4 Sebring with the Hahn kit with the front mount intercooler.  It was pretty sweet even while I had fuel problems.  Too bad it's on block now indefinitely...

If you're serious about the turbo and have a few grands, I would not waste money on other mods like a CAI, etc... They won't give you much of a difference in performance.  If anything, go for the exhaust so that when you get your turbo, the exhaust won't hold you back.

I loved my Sebring when it was running...especially with the turbo.  If you love your car now, just get the turbo and you'll want to be buried in it!

Darth,

Hey, I can't believe you're still around as well... do you still have the same Venge?

To make a long story short, my engine was leaking way too much oil, and i could not hold boost.  Even w/o boost, it was running real weak, and sounds like a diesel!!  I have way too many problems w/ it so decided to just take it apart and put it together right.  I know I'm looking at multiple causes of my symptoms (I was running pretty rich as well), but figure I'll just start from the ground up.  the engine is pretty much disconnected from the car, but it's just sitting there on blocks.  The guy that was helping me sort of bailed... so I'm stuck with the car the way it is for  now, since I'm not saavy enough to rebuild the engine myself.

Anyways, SW (especially southern Cali) has always been pretty weak setting up meets.  I think the most we've even been able to get together was like 10 people..and even that was rare.  If you just want to meet up sometime and shoot the breeze, let me know.  If you've done anything else to the Venge since we last saw each other, I would like to check it out.  I lost your cell # so email me at sclieu@yahoo.com and we can exchange phones.

I guess this is probably boring the hell out of everyone else... Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
