Not to be the bearer of bad news, and not to mention your random limp in modes,, If you had to rev to 2500 to get the car to move,, that is your proublem, computor picks up on this gear ratio error and puts you in limp in,,, The issue of it working cold and not hot,, a degraded clutch pack can sometimes work due to the apply pistion being able to seal a bit better with cold fluid,,, So long as your still hearing the solinoids chiming off, your not in fail safe,,, once the go silent that means your voltage has ben shut down putting you in and 2nd gear and reverse and it goes in hard due to max line pressure..... Once in a while I see and bad onboard computor , more often bad input or output sensor and solinoid pk but more often than anything,, the unit needs a rebuild.. Your car is most likley in the fail safe mode and remember if you end up needing to add oil #4 oil wasnt used in 95 so I dont recomend mixing because I dont know the out come..proubly none . However ck on that, we use mercon 3 and 4 in the units,, their tons of hot air and not much fact out their because people say things but they do no research,, The #4 oil is mercon 5 and deals with heat on a much better basis and we use it in the ford power stroke units also however for years we used dextron 2 in the 604 and just to end the hot air I build one of my 604 race units and used the cheapest dextron 2 I could get and guess what, It works fine and Im still beating the hell out of it,Their is more hot air out their than fact when it comes to transmissions and I always got some morons who know nothing and dont work on transmission telling you your wrong , they have lots of entertainment value but not much else...If you have transmission questions, go to a shop or ask a transmission person... Roger reynolds.. owner Hannibal transmission and roadrager quick change gears... go ahead and change both input and output and dont buy them at auto zone,, go to mopar.....I can give you the ins and outs on the reasons for different oils but I dont l have two days to wright a report E RREYNOLD@NEMONET.COM roadrage quick change gears...
Thier is a item called the pinion factor, this is preset for each car alain is correct that all sensors are the same,, The difference lies in the car may of had a lower differential ration, different transfer gear ratio so when you put that in your car, it will run you trany but it goin to be set for ratio and tire size of the car you took it from,, Dealer ship can change the pinion factor but will they is a different story, best way to stay on track is get one out of the same model car..Roger Reynolds,, 604 quick change gears 604 race transmissions...rreynold@nemonet.com Im guessin its reading fast, you could solve your proublem with transfer gears if your close...
I thought I should re wright a re reply due to some major confusion on Shiano behalf just in case he confused anyone else , First off , park is not like a rotor a rotor works with friction to do its job,, Park is a mechanical lock, If you are going down road at and cruseing speed and put your car in park, it will not engage , nor will it engage until you are stopped or almost stopped, The auto industry set park up this way for reasons, It could be a diaster if someone engaged park on the highway makeing the car uncontrolable or breaking lots of parts, they made the car so until your very slow or stopped you get no enguagement, If you are slow rolling and it does engage the tires most likly will slip if their is enough force other wise every car in town would be rolling across the parking lot and the auto industry would be getting sued to death.. Possibly if a vechicle has very degraded spider gears or diffrential gear a slow rolling park engagment could finish them off however degraded is the key word, the auto industry does build items to fail if their is no liability but to have a failing park , thats big trouble... my experience with the ocassional people who have hit a shifter or raceing or whatever and shift from drive to park while going down the road and broke thir transmission is the tranny diddnt go into park , it simply left the manual valve for the transmission partially in reverse and it put the unit in reverse and yes this can be a diaster for a transmission but never one time have I seen a broken park even though thats what they claim they do.. The one thing I have learned if their is always exception to rules and proubly one dayIll get a trans with park broke but not yet, the noise you hear on a rolling park selection is the park c og is shaped like a cam lobe with a next to nothing spring to help push it in place since it has almost no spring it bounces back and fourth between the case and If the spring was greatly increased you may get a enngagement at a speed higher but I still guess the tires will simply slip.I have watched many repo guys drag a car off in park and sliping tires Ive seen.. I will add this , very often , not always the customer at a transshop dont always get the truth, If a customer says I did this and I wonder if I caused this and you say yes, That makes the customer feel like he is somewhat smart , you have then complemented him and he now wants to give you his monei to fix his car, Thats business.. Their are some very good rebuilders out their and their are in my opinion way more medium or bad ones, They often can barely remember how to get unit back to gether, if their is a proublem, they dont know what it is, and when the unit comes back they blame it on the customers, and their real ace in the hole,, If they cant dazzle you with their brilliance, the baffel you with their bulls#** I would suggest this for anyone out their, What I put down is basis of my experiences in the feild, I also design and produce prototype automatics and have a patent on one design and a provisional patent on another I would suggest anyone who feels its OK to know apsolutly nothing about automatics and feels they are entitled to tell others their wrong based most likely of baffeling bullshit really shouldnt be posting anything unless at the end you reply you state that you have no fact or knowledge oveiously of how a automatic park works, ( based on the rotor philosphey) to back it up... so please dont leave that out next time you want to baffel someone withBulls#*** Roger Reynolds Roadrage quickchange gears and 604 race transmission..
Im going to put this forward to you so you can decide for yourself,,, I proubly got 400 604 rebuilds under my belt at this time,,, I have replaced only one valve body, I have serious doubts your transmission issues are valvebody related but most likly failing transmission related or electronic....Roger HANNIBAL transmission 604 race transmission and 604 quick change gears...E rreynold@nemonet.com
Just wanted to help you sort out your confusion on the transmission... You proubly need a rebuild... you are in failsafe,,, go get a code run at auto zone or somethig and let me know however you can always drop a trans pan and see what is in their to help diagnose... Putting it in park while your moveing believe it or not will only make a loud noise but wont break the transmission, only the parking pawl if anything ,, does it still hold in park and if it does no harm was done.... This is a possibility for you however its really hard to know for fact what the car is doing when I dont get to test drive it,,, Your car also has a lk up converter,, the stock converter is aprox 2800 to 3000 stall,, ( of course your motor dont make enough torque to stall it up to that) When the converter lks up since it such a slippy converter anyway its much like a actual shift... However your car is programed to not allow converter LK up until a certain engine temp is met, usually around 140 to 160 F* When its colder out side it simply will take the engine longer to get 140 or 160F* and simply put, you may be mistaken LK up converter with shifting into overdrive,, Dont be offended, I see this on a weekly basis at the Transmission shop where a torque converter is broken and cant lk up or Ive had a couple time where a engine thermostat failed in the open position and the engine in the winter never gets to 140 but the complaint is it dosnt shift into Over drive... Hope this helps, it may or maynot be your case,,, Have any questions email... RREYNOLD@NENONET.COM owner of Hannibal Transmission , 604 Race transmissions and 604 quick change gears..
A second reply on the shift kit,, I was myself thinking a external shift kit would be agood Idea , I clicked on this site for one but It diddnt come up... I have been purchaseijg stuff from radio shack and patching it in the wire harness and firming up shifts for the chevy truck4l60 e unit, Il ldo some investigateing when I get time and basicly it allows you to up the line pressure at the fllip of a switch and thismay be ok if it was used on ocassion since if its used all the time the computor will eventually change the volume index going to the clutch pk and return it to its idea of a shift... Angela,,, I own a transmission shop so looking at the history of what you said Ill sum this up, your pumping a dry buying parts and doing fluid changes,,, you need a rebuild.........Roger Reynolds,,, email RREYNOLD@NEMONET.COM If you have a question....
you may be mistaken your OD for lk up converter,, count your shifts when its cold, the lk up converter will not lk up until most generally you get a engine temp of 160 and up,, 5 minutes is about a good average to get engine up to that point,, as far as youR POSSIBLE air noise , good luck that could be air to metal. noise...Roger Reynolds rreynold@NEMONET.COM
