Hi, I was just wondering if anyone could post the maintenance that should be done on a vehicle by dodge's standards. I've got a 1999 Dodge Avenger with 54k miles on it. I just purchased the car and know this information is in the owner's manual but someone spilt something on the back pages so it's not readable. Thanks.
Just out of curiosity, where are you guys located? My sister has a 96 eclipse and it's doing in the same areas but we live in Florida where every car has this problem. She's actually quite lucky, if you usually park outside all the time, most cars start fading and losing their clear coat within 3-5 years. I'm not really sure what everyone does about it, other than nothing, because I see MANY cars with this problem.
It doesn't do it on an incline or decline. I gave the car to my dad, he builds cars from the ground up so he's going to see if he can get it in the air and see what's going on. For every thing that he thinks it could possibly, he finds something to counter why it's not. I guess we're just going to have to go through the entire thing, just start at the front and trace everything I guess. I usually do that when I buy a "new" used car. I was mostly interested to see if anyone's had the same problem with this model.
Do you have a manual or anything that says at least how far away it should be? (In case it's already that far away, then I can begin brainstorming what else it could be).
Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I just bought the car yesterday and notice the same thing: a whirl kind of silly noise 30-50 mph but you can only hear it when there's no other noise (have the radio off, you're not talking to someone, etc). So you're not crazy.....well or we both are.
Hello, So again, I purchased a 1999 Dodge Avenger yesterday. While test driving, I had to stay on a side street but I did swurve and do 3 point turns and whatnot. The car seemed fine.... I drove it hard over bumps...car seemed fine.... Then on the way home, I took a turn on bumps and I started hearing a clanging noise that sounded like it was coming from directly under the dash (under the radio area). So I kept purposely hitting bumps to see if I could get it to do it again. The only time I can get it to make the noise to try and diagnose it is if you're taking a turn and hitting a bump somewhere towards the end of the turn. If you hit any bumps while driving straight, the car is fine. Because of that, I sort of ruled out struts but I really have no idea what it could be. Any help or ideas that you guys can come up with would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Hi everyone, I just purchased a 1999 Dodge Avenger yesterday. I stopped to buy groceries on the way home and when taking them out of the trunk, I noticed that some of the items (everything on the left side of the trunk) was very hot. I lifted up the rug to expose underneath and almost burnt myself. The entire left side of the trunk was very very hot, the middle and right side were the normal outdoor temperature. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the heat shield but I'm not too sure and haven't had the chance to buy a chilton manual or anything yet. I was just wondering if any of you have had the same problem or might know what it could be. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
