Will the PT tranny mount up to the 2.0?  I know you said you've got the 2.4

as fitting goes the tranny is 100% bolt on because it's another version of the basic a604/41te
but that one is made to stand lots of abuse straight from the factory
to benefit from the package you also need the ticker flexplate and larger torque converter
to use the flexplate you also need to use the 2.4 turbo starter because the gears on the flexplate don't have
the same pitch as the regular flexplate
wirring is another story however that tranny has the new 1999 and up connector

so how much would you charge for a good mani?

I'm out of the manifold business for more than a year now
they were selling for $350 and up

my 2.4 engine

pt cruiser turbo transmission when I bought it

custom made oil pan

the turbo I have on hand, I may go bigger and sell it too

mockup of my equal lenght manifold

now bow to the Torque Meister

ok since I have some free time today ...

Quote
sorry it's controlled by heat/airflow signal and vaccum sent to the ecu via sensors

there's no airflow we don't have MAF sensor we have MAP sensor

Quote
and thank you, i contacted obx about a mani and they said it'd be around $250

since when OBX make crappy exhaust manifold for 420a ?

Quote
a big 16g isn't a tiny turbo

16g is a tdo5 housing you want a 13g which is a td04 housing with an excentric exhaust port it's not even matched, even if the flange size is, to a 14b/16g made manifold

Quote
i even found one for a pair sequential 9g's from a 3000gt which can be used on v6

v6 DOCH and SOHC don't have the same bolt pattern
unless you found Sicklife TT old set of manifolds for his now defunct twin turbo v6 project
manifolds that i made btw, just like I made over 30 manifolds for the 420a including of course several 14b/16g manifold
I was the first one to build a manifold with the flange made with an angle so the turbo from a 1g 2g eclipse could fit like a garrett t3 every one else copied my design

Quote
yes our ecu does contain fuel maps and yes you can tune them
no they don't have fuel maps however they do have some "patterns"
Chrysler last generation SBC is formula based and that's why it is so hard to hack a new rom in those suckers
I have several rom dumps from Chrysler no trace of fuel maps
how do I know so much ? well I'm Alain95i4 ....

well if you put a filter between that is adjustable it gives much leeway to edit and play with
just put a 2 cents resistors bought on Ebay

stick to ur honda's with the fart can mufflers and cai because ur not doing any good with dodge or mitsubishi fine tuning

I'm still rolling on the floor on this one

here's a very small recap of my life with an Avenger
- I manufactured over 30 manifolds for the 420a engine
- I manufactured 1 set of v6 manifolds for the 6g73 0f Sicklife
- I am the one who found out how to convert a 1996 and up atx into an autostick car
- I am the one who found out about the 100% compatibility of the very nice Ford motosports injectors like the famous red #30 and green #42
- I am the first one to have a small hole drilled in the inner fender to save 1 hour of time trying to remove bolt number 3 of the engine support when doing a timming belt on a 420a equiped Avenger
- I was the first one to do a rewiring of the radiator fans to synchronised them

but that was small potatoes

now here's the big potatoes

About my engine
I'm not running a 420a and I'm not running a v6
My engine was born in a 2001 Dodge Caravan as a 2.4 L
the short block was emptied and fitted with the internals of the 2.4L turbo engine found in the srt-4 and pt cruiser turbo
because I'm Alain95i4 I have good contacts and I even bought those pistons and rods 3 months before the introduction of the Pt Cruiser turbo which, as you should know, came even before the srt-4
the oil pan is custom made and was born as a Startus 2002 pan , it was cut , reshaped and tig welded, made to look like the shape of a 420a pan
the head of a 420a was fitted on top of the block to have the front exhaust we need
so unless you also have a complete custom engine under your hood ... just bow to the Torque Meister

About my transmission
I'm currently running a 2003 Pt cruiser turbo automatic transmission , fitted with the larger Pt cruiser turbo starter, larger Pt cruiser turbo flexplate and larger Pt cruiser turbo torque converter all fitted with a 1995 TCM
since you are "such an expert" on chrysler you must know that 1996 transmission and TCM are incompatible with all the 1995 and before years no more PRNDL switch and range sensor , 1 less relay, 1 connector instead of 2, new computers both for the engine and the transmission
oh it took me a few hours but I did the reverse engineering needed to make it work all the newcommers laughed at me , just like you ..... but hey ... I'm Alain95i4 and now they also bow to the Torque Meister
so unless you have a performance hacked transmission in your car ....

on the shelves still waithing for my vacation times
Megasquirt stand-alone computer fitted with a Ford EDIS-4 ignition system
IHI RHB-6 brand new turbo that will put any 16g to shame
top mount intercooler fitted with an active cooling system controlled by the Megasquirt
humongous injectors
tons of handling equipment like dodge Stealth disk brakes system, bigger swaybars, prothane engine mounts insert

and here's picture since you will probably won't trust me newbie

so thanks for the lesson but no thanks, stick to ur honda's with the fart can mufflers and cai because ur not doing any good with dodge or mitsubishi fine tuning

that's why I don't come to ASOG anymore no newcommers know who I am LOL

ask around WHO IS ALAIN95I4 .....

you would be surprised , probably amazed too

336  General Category / Questions and problems / Re: What cars have my engine in it???? 420a 4cyl 2.0 Vin Y Please help!!! on: July 01, 2006, 04:47:45 PM
this has nothing to do with sensors, connectors etc

the 1995 engine has return fuel line and because of the  fuel rail is not the same
the rod bearings are also unique to the 1995 they were change in 1996
1995 is OBD-I and 1996 is OBD-II

Quote
I have a dodge avenger 1998 and a blown engine want to replace it but don't want to buy the wrong one.

a 1995 engine will work with your car,  just reuse all of your sensors and intake manifold/fuel system and you will be ok
my old 1995 engine is now running in a 97 body

337  Tech Forums / 4 Cylinder Tech / Re: turbo manifold on: July 01, 2006, 04:40:13 PM
4g63 have nothing in common with 420a
nothing will fit
there are no manifold made for that tiny turbo, which is btw a waste of money and time
your 450 cc injectors are probably pulled from a talon/eclipse/laser and if so they will fry your ecu because they don't have the right impedance
BTW injectors that size are overkill

Quote
i've got an idle air simulator that i can tune the fuel map by the idle

ok I have no idea what the hell you are talking about and I'm around those cars since 2000
and you can't tune fuel map on our cars because well ... we don't have any

338  Regional Forums / Canada / an easter lunch ? on: March 10, 2006, 02:12:19 AM
I missed the post christmas lunch for mechanical reason and I wasn't happy

easter is comming up and I will probably take a 4 day weekend/mini vacation
my 2.4 is healthy except for the mysterious small oil leak so I could make the trip and show you my car finally
or actually what's left of it ...

Dave and Jill will you be in Canada or USA for easter ?
and any sugarhouse in your part of the country where we could grab a decent lunch if you are free ?

339  Tech Forums / Transmission Tech / Re: Is there a LSD for a 97 Avenger 5 speed 4 cyl? on: February 08, 2006, 01:23:56 AM
a real LSD is available from Quaife
OBX is also making a cheaper clone of the Quaife unit

both units are sold as Neon LSD
we share the same 5 speed tranny and they fit 100% in our cars

Now we definelty have to have another get together. And make sure Matthew comes as well

I haven't seen and heard of him in more than a year
last time I saw him at the local car spot he was about to go live with his girlfriend and she's the kind of girl to take a guy by the balls and squezed until he always do what she want  Grin

Quote
Glad it wasn't major and you got it fixed ok.
not major but still a major headache to put back the transmission I was always fighting for 1/4 inch extra because the 2.4 can't lean as much as the 2.0 the engine hit the frame sooner, the torque converter of the pt turbo tranny is also larger
it took about 2:30-3:00 to get the tranny from the floor up to the engine  Shocked

341  Regional Forums / Canada / car is fixed on: January 30, 2006, 04:55:36 AM

here's the problem
the flexplate splitted in 2  Shocked

15 hours of intense work later the car is back on the road
we replace the old 2.0 flexplate, torque converter and starter for the beefier and stronger ones of the Pt Cruiser Turbo
my car now has the full conversion to Pt Cruiser Turbo ATX transmission

it is 4pm I'm covered in dirt and grease from hair to toes

343  Regional Forums / Canada / Re: REMINDER: ASOG Party on Jan 28th on: January 27, 2006, 03:40:01 AM
as Dave, Jill and James already know I will miss the party  Cry

my car broke down 1 street corner from my place on my way back home today after work
I probably have a broken flexplate
worst case scenario broken crankshaft or blown tranny

the engine was running with a loud noise and lots of vibrations on my way back
it did this a few times recently but it stopped after a few seconds but tonight it was constant
I was on a red light, almost home, gave some gas, heard some more noise than the engine was revving at 4000 rpm freely
oups the car doesn't more anymore

stop the engine
and now if I turn the key I can only hear the starter spinning

I'll have to look into this saturday and sunday
