3  General Category / General Discussion / operation rescue has started on: June 28, 2008, 09:53:28 PM
this afternoon I started to remove all the rust from the rocker panel
it was way worst than expected but nothing a few piece of metal, welding and finition bondo can't fix
I grinded until I was on solid and clean metal and shooted everything with a thick rust proofing paint

before

after

before

after

I have no after pictures of the driver side , the passenger side is the worst

if you car has some visible rust at the same spot as mine double check everything
because I found out that the plastic paint/protection we have on the lower rocker panel is perfect to hide the rust and keep the rotten metal in place holding there until  you see it too late

close your eyes and go to the next thread if you are sensitive

here's 4 close up of the rust on my car

I decided to rebuilt it this year and started the work last sunday after 2 years of not driving it and letting it sit in snow and grass

the worst is the joint in the passenger side on the rocker panel and rear fender from under it is rusted throught with a hole about 3 inches wide

the same spot at the driver side

I see lots of buffing and welding comming up for those 2 spots

I also have rust hole in the 2 rear fender

those are easy fix
also 1 broken door handle on the passenger side
and the torque meister has no more idle it keep swinging from 1000 to 2400 rpm at park and neutral and keep steady

I hear a crunshing noise when I turn right

but luckily I have tons of extra parts new and used

when I did the 2.4 swap I used the stock 2.0l injectors and I was running lean on the narrow band and high on the egt
I switched to a set of accel #24 and the egt dropped a lot the narrow band was happier too

definitely not #24
could be 21 or 19 since neons have 19

I believe 24# injectors are stock.

#24 are bigger than stock
we are using Bosch yellow in theory they are #19

and a very good advice
remove the fuel cap !

the gas will barely spill if the fuel cap of the tank is removed
this will help reversing the flow inside the fuel line

if you don't do that you could have a siphon effect

or plain and simple battery pole issue
disconnect both plugs
clean them properly and grind any crust
connect them tight

when there is too much corrosion the poles will let small amount of current flow throught which would explain radio lights etc
but the 50+ amp that require a starter to run is too much

This movie looks like it is going to be sick... Is there a set release date yet?

the movie was supposed to be last week of september 08 but since reactions are so high in all the screening tests they did so far they are now talking third week of august !
they want to catch the teen/college male audience before going back to school

like I said the higher the octane the harder it is to ignite
with more compression you have a higher air temperature when compressed
higher temperature = higher chance of dieseling  that's an auto ignition mostly cause by junk inside the combustion chamber burning red hot and acting like a spark plug

Quote
Harder to burn, but burns hotter, hotter helps clean everything out.

not really much hotter it is still good old fuel the octane alone will not change the properties of the car fuel
unlike when you are running a much different fuel type like propane or methane

Does it just appear the Mustang is getting flamed or is it actually taking the flames to the body?

the mustangS , with an S because we used 18 of them to make the movie, were drenched several times with the flame thrower
for some scenes we had to cover the cars with a special flame retardant liquid to protect the stuntmen

and the flame thrower was spectacular to see in action but the liquid used was a mixture made to generate lots of smoke with a flame burning at a low temperature
