99 Sebring LXi Coupe, will act as if in nuetral with a whining/grinding sound. Cut it off and restart, violia! will go in gear for a few feet and boom, back to no engagment, no matter where shifter is.

Also service engine soon light came on, at same time.

I,m thinking its a control solenoid or something. Just need good advice as to most common causes ( besides fluid and filter).

Does this thing have a shift solenoid?
