That's a LA engine.. Slant 4 used for outlaw racing.. basically take a 360 magnum engine and remove 4 of the cylinders on the casting..

pushrod 180ci 4 banger..

Quote
The engine is a racing engine based on the LA 5.2/5.9 V8. It's available from Mopar Performance - P5007090AB is the part number for the head, and P5007467 is the block. It seems to make more sense to run this engine instead of building up a 2.0 or 2.4L engine in a Neon.

There are three major blocks:
P5007466 Aluminum midget race block
P5007467 Aluminum Drag race block (v8 flywheel housing for RWD transmissions) for P5 HEMI head
P5007636 Aluminum Wedge head race block (fits W8/W9 heads and v8 flywheel housing for RWD transmissions)

These blocks utilize many Chrysler small block components for assembly. All blocks feature corrected valvetrain geometry (an endemic proplem with the LA since it was designed) and a shorter deck heighth.

According to my source, this engine, in fuel injected form for a midget car, is capable of over 350 hp at 7200rpm, naturally aspirated.

it'd be fun to put that into an avenger, that's for sure. Wonder how much money that block runs...

Aluminum midget block is around $3500
Aluminum race block is around $4000

Hemi head will run ya about $400.. thats just bare.. no valves/rockers/pushrods/guides/cam you'll need to port to your liking as well.

don't think pontiac would look too kindly with a mopar block in a solstice..

Shaun Carlson was prepping a neon for NHRA Sportcompact with that engine.. and NHRA disqualified it..  guess the OHC guys were complaining a pushrod 4cyl was gonna wipe the floor with em.  It would have completely dominated the NA and the turbo class.

I saw the link under the other post and checked that out.  Where else can I find info/pics of this?  Or if there are any vids that would rock.

I looked around for a while for shits and giggles, the bare block costs more than those prices listed. But it would be bad ass.
