"riding the clutch"... am assuming leaving your foot on it all the time. CMC Title: Re: I sold the Durango...got a Vue Post by: Nykon on October 10, 2008, 04:28:31 PM correct, if you are not shifting, starting or stopping, keep your foot on the floor.
Also, take it out of gear and use your brakes to stop. Brakes are a lot less expensive and difficult to replace than a clutch. it won't take long and things will be just reflex. I love clutches. Title: Re: I sold the Durango...got a Vue Post by: Darktengu on October 10, 2008, 05:20:27 PM It's like riding a bike. You'll get it. Probably.

Brakes are a lot less expensive and difficult to replace than a clutch. Meh, I downshift under braking all the time and the clutch was still working great when my tranny was rebuilt at 335k. Oddly enough the new clutch is acting funky... it was either slipping yesterday or I made two 3rd gear starts when I thought I was in 1st. (Which is unlikely because I've never done that before, so why would I do it twice in one day? Now it's acting fine again, grr-argh. If it's going to fail I want it to happen while there's still warranty on that rebuild.) Title: Re: I sold the Durango...got a Vue Post by: Darktengu on October 11, 2008, 04:01:11 AM I engine stop when I need to stop very quickly. Which is often.
Title: Re: I sold the Durango...got a Vue Post by: Nykon on October 11, 2008, 01:53:16 PM I do it occasionally too, just saying, I would not do it all the time.
And if Shiano can drive a stick anyone ca... oh wait his tranny is going out... nevermind. ;D Title: Re: I sold the Durango...got a Vue Post by: Shiano on October 12, 2008, 05:33:45 AM I do it occasionally too, just saying, I would not do it all the time. The clutch disc is what wears out when you ride the clutch. Just like brake pads wear out if you ride the brakes a lot. You can also cause premature wear on both the flywheel and the pressure plate. Title: Re: I sold the Durango...got a Vue Post by: Shiano on October 12, 2008, 06:00:53 AM well, never mind that line of thinking then *cancels mass order of replacement throwout bearings*
