Title: New project sort of started
Post by: Darktengu on July 06, 2008, 07:46:51 PM
As some of you know, my daily driver/beater is a Nissan 240SX.  The problem with the beast is it looks and sounds like a beast.  The exhaust manifold is held on by half the bolts it should be.  The looks is what I'm focusing on right now.  I've pulled the front bumper off, and the two front fenders.  Sanding has begun on the the hood.  The bumper and the fenders are next.

Here are some pictures of the progress.  It started raining so I didn't get nearly as much as I wanted done.

If a local convenience store sells NOS energy drink, go buy one, and keep the tab. you should have it painted that color blue.

I say let it rust, good for weight distribution/reduction ;). once it gets to the last bits, THEN paint it. i.e. as your car gets older, it gets faster ;D.

No power tools.  But I found a spray that eats the paint away, so I'm using that.  I will be painting it myself.  So it will look half-assed.  AND I want to do the Redtop swap, we'll see what happens.

Yes Shiano it's Tal-Strip

And I've done more than my share of sanding by hand.  I'm done with that.

It always pissed me off in winter when they don't shovel a GOD DAMN THING and as you trudge through the snow, they give some poor excuse why they couldn't shovel a little path for you, and how bad they feel you got your feet all wet, and still don't tip.

The sound isn't that great, but it's still funny.

And this is so new, there isn't even a torrent file for it.

Thats sounds good. I also will be painting my own car, but I will be using a spray gun and a comperssor, but first I have to fix what I have right now.

do a roll-on method, but use marine paint (which is meant to be rolled on) not rustoleum

actually, light coats, don't get heavy with it. I painted 2 hoods that needed emergency paint. primer is a good idead to do first though. then wet sand until it is smooooooooth. there were a couple of spots that weren't 100% smooth and they showed. but it was still 300% better than what they had.

just strip it and oil it.

spend your money on go fast goodies instead..

Having spent most of the day sunday in and partially behind the wheel of a 240 with some really sticky tires and what could be almost classified as nonexistent suspension..

Who cares what it looks like.  make it go fast.. fast is more fun than pretty.

It's has to look somewhat presentable.  I think the overall plan is to do the SR20 swap, then go through and run it until the body is just completely shot.  Then buy a shell down the road and swap all the goods into the new shell.
