Title: Doors unlock/lock right away........
Post by: Daniel Ryan on July 03, 2008, 12:45:21 AM
 >:(  Hey guys, I started having this problem last week.  I hit the remote to unlock my doors and they both unlock and lock right away.  I have to have my hand ready to grab the door handle and open it as soon as I hit the remote.  its getting annoying because about 90 percent of the time my alarm goes off because of this.  Any ideas?  I did replace the door handle (it broke off like they all do) about 6 months ago, it worked fine till now.

yea, it works, when I lock it using the switch on the door it does the same thing.  I checked the security fuse, and its fine.

lock and unlock the same time, sounds like you have a closed circuit with the lock switch, the lock switch wire may be grounding, any background info would be helpful in the diagnosis.

I had the reverse issue and it turned out to be that the switch on the back of the passenger lock cylinder had popped off.  There's no spring in the switch, it relies on the spring in the lock cylinder to centre it to the inactive position, so once it's popped off it can get stuck in the lock or unlock position.  There's a similar (if not identical) switch on the driver's side too.  Just peel your door trim with the window in the up position and you can get at it easily.  (By 'get at' I mean see and touch...  actually manoeuvring your hand around in there to work on the thing is a big pain in the rear, but if you've managed to replace a broken handle I assume that you've already dealt with that.)
