Title: Need help with 98 Sebring LXi Overdrive!
Post by: wizwaz3 on May 27, 2008, 09:07:26 PM
My mother has a 98 Chrysler Sebring LXi (coupe) and the overdrive is broken. I took the shifter apart to see if I could fix it, apparently the chip is broken, so I wired the yellow and (I believe) red wires together. I know that when I connected the yellow to either the red or black, it caused the O/D Off light to come on in the dash, so I wired the other wire to the yellow. If anyone has any idea what I could do to fix this, I would appreciate it. She can't drive over 55MPH... :(

OK If you can live without the light wire the red to a switch , then the black to the other side of the switch .... turning the switch will kick it on/off
The yellow wire goes to the light , They used a weird switch thats hard to replace exactly

Or you can wire the red/black together without the switch and the O/D will always be on ...

Be sure the Red wire has 12 volts , no 12 volts check the back up light fuse

She doesn't care if she has control of turning it on or off. If I do it that way, with the O/D OFF light be on or no?

P.s. You're a life saver! I'll take a crack at it tomorrow and see how it turns out. :)

Man, this brings me a flashback when I was a member first in Asec and how happy I felt when some one helped me.
Welcome to the the world of Avengers.
