Title: What began as one city taking a stand caught the attention of the world. Post by: JusBringIt on March 22, 2008, 05:42:41 PM Just some interesting stuff for those interested.
Wayne Gerdes - CleanMPG - March, 21, 2008 Last year on March 31, 2007, 07:30 PM local, some of Sydney, Australia shut down. This was not a natural catastrophe or terrorist attack however; it was an organized grass roots movement of local citizens and business to turn off their lights for just one hour -- Earth’s finest hour. 2.2 Million People and over 2,100 Businesses took it upon themselves to do this one simple thing. They turn off the lights for all of us. Electrical demand in Sydney over that single hour last year fell by over 10% with the same amount of Ghg reduction. Only a 5% reduction was expected. What can your contribution do? In 2008 Earth Hour goes global! Earth Hour will be taking place in over 20 cities around the world with more signing on every day. On March 29, 2008 at 8PM (your local time), do the planet a favor and reduce your electrical consumption to a minimum. All it takes a simple push of the power button on your PC, your TV, your stereo, turning your light switches off and forget about the Microwave for just an hour. Have a conversation with your family or better yet, take a walk and enjoy the evening sky as it was meant to be enjoyed … for a change. A change for the better. Post by: JusBringIt on March 24, 2008, 05:29:01 PM I think its a concept that would help a lot, I already save a lot due to my current situation, but I'll be sure to implement this at least once a week...if not once a day...
