Title: fuel cell installation help Post by: kiddo99 on January 03, 2008, 01:38:55 AM Hello, I am a new guy that has been reading and learning a lot off of many of you from the two forums over the last couple months since I picked up my '97 es. I am planning on making it a fun fix up project. This car will never be on the "the road" again in its life.
Has anyone ever installed a fuel cell in the trunk of an avenger before? I am going to attempt it, but I have have never done so before and am looking for some advice. I have a 5 gallon summitracing fuel cell with a bladder and baffled for slosh and stuff. My questions start there?? I understand I will need an external pump? Will this one work??----> http://www.msdfuelinjection.com/efi_fuelpump.html (http://www.msdfuelinjection.com/efi_fuelpump.html) What is the stock fuel pressure for a 2.5/3.0??? I am guessing that the stock pressure regulator is on the pump(or in the tank at least) so I will need to purchase an aftermarket fp regulator as well to place after the external pump? Is it that simple? What am I missing? I am assuming there are just send and return fuel lines I will have to deal with?? I am just doing this for safety/weight reduction, I won't be doing alot of major hp increasing so I won't need a special fuel system install. Just something simple. Thank you again for your help. It is all appreciated. I will purchase the Walbro255lph external pump on your recommendation. I like the idea of keeping the fpr inline after the pump in the trunk vs under the hood. I am going to firewall the trunk in. Is there a recommended aftermarket regulator that any users on here like(or maybe ones to stay away from). AEM? I am not worried "too much" about cost with any of this, versus dependability and ease of use. Does 47-50psi sound about right??? Thanks again, the advice I have gotten out of this forum has been great.

You need to put the regulator after the fuel rail in-order for it to work. Nothing on these cars for adjustable FPR's are bolt in. Everything is custom. Title: Re: fuel cell installation help Post by: kiddo99 on January 05, 2008, 01:35:22 AM thats suck-o! I have alot to learn I guess. So even though the stock fpr is on the pump in the tank, any aftermarket has to go under the hood and after the fuel rail??? Maybe I will have to rethink this.
Title: Re: fuel cell installation help Post by: Sroufe7 on January 05, 2008, 03:48:59 AM yes...the regulator on a return fuel system regulates everything before the regulator and not after the regulator.
