Title: Nykon, DT I replaced my IAC NO luck... Post by: 1stcar on October 28, 2007, 12:24:52 AM I've been having probs with my 95 V6 avenger es. It's got 150,000 miles on it, regularly maintained. Here's my prob. When at a stop light it will idle fine for 5-10 seconds then it will begin to make a slight whistle/ringing noise( which sounds like its coming from the left hand side where my belts are located) , which comes and goes while at and idle then it begins making a put put put sound and shudders it tries to recover and it does for a few seconds then goes through the whole orchestra all over again. I've replaced the CAP & ROTOR
wire set. EGR air filter. I don't have any other problems it accelerates fine. OH but i noticed at an idle it starts to heat up just a little, but when i a ccelerate it returns to normal temp. could this be related to my above prob? I don't what to buy a new car but the shaky idle is driving me nuts. is this what i should expect from a 150,000 mile engine or should i move on to replacing the CPS and or TPS? any input from anybody will be greatly appreciated. thanks. Title: Re: Nykon, DT I replaced my IAC NO luck... Post by: Darktengu on October 28, 2007, 01:45:35 AM I see you already did the EGR, so ignore the PM. Is your Check Engine Light on?
You could try adjusting your idle a touch, but it probably won't fix the real problem, just stop the shaking. Title: Re: Nykon, DT I replaced my IAC NO luck... Post by: 1stcar on October 28, 2007, 08:46:13 AM i'll adjust the idle in the morning (its 1:43 am here) and post the results. fixitfirsttime also gave me a couple of suggestions regarding the egr that i'm going to try. these cars can break your heart sometimes.

Yeah man i know the feeling too everytime i try to take care of mine i find more new problems its like a never ending vicious cycle i be nice it is mean. I did the spark plugs now i have an exhaust leak, i changed the oil found a bad bad bad tranny leak. I clean it it pays me back by leaking in the car and growing mold, i wash it and it starts to lose its paint(its going bald lol) Title: Re: Nykon, DT I replaced my IAC NO luck... Post by: Nykon on October 30, 2007, 07:33:55 PM my suggestions now are, clean the throttle body, and check for vacuum leaks.

Post by: Todd on October 31, 2007, 03:49:42 PM i had a somewhat similar problem, and it turned out to be the computer. is your CEL light on? has it shut off on you any? have you tried the PCV valve? (i know someone else who had a similar problem and that's what it ended up being). have u checked the MAP and TPS? not sure about the engine heating up at idle tho. i hate these elusive problems… seems like you did the rite thing to fix it, then it continues, and so do you… on trying to track it down.
this is not what you should expect from an engine with 150,000 miles… sure they're no spring chicken anymore, but they should still run pretty smooth—esp if you kept it maintained. Title: Re: Nykon, DT I replaced my IAC NO luck... Post by: SoBeGod00 on October 31, 2007, 05:01:19 PM My Sebring did the same thing to me a year or so ago. It turned out that the PCV valve hose had a small crack on the bottom of the hose (out of site). I ordered a new one from the dealer along with a new PCV valve & all was normal. Good luck
