Title: difficult to start....car dies....
Post by: Spazz on August 30, 2007, 12:07:36 AM
I've had some troubles lately with my 95.  I either get my car started or it struggles to start.  Once I start driving, on 2 seperate occasions the car has died.  I will try to start the car and within a couple tries it starts up and drives again.  I don't drive it much, only on a couple nice days, otherwise to shows.

My husband and I checked the fuel pump and it works intermittently, but we think it could be something else because electric pumps usually just go out.  We bought a fuel pump for shits and giggles and its still the same intermittent problem.

Did some reading in the forum and looks like this has happened to others.  Couple people mentioned the camshaft position sensor.  I did the diagnosis test with my husband last night.  I put a test light on the 12v of the distributer plug and turned the key to the ON position.  It was supposed to flash on and off but it did not.  According to the diagnosis its supposed to be a relay, but it doesn't say anything about which one or where it is.....

so to get to my question, anyone know what relay and where it is that could possible be contributing to this problem?

thanks for any help

The fuel pump relay on the Firewall inside the engine bay.  Change that badboy out for a couple of bucks.  I'd bank that's your problem.

That or the ASD relay.  Replace them all just to be certain.
