I am so F'ing pissed and going to junk all my Pioneer crap, after I write them a nasty letter and am switching back to Alpine which I never should have left.

(I know Dt, you don't need to say it)

So... that being said, does anyone know about this deck, has anyone heard good/bad/other...?

I care, I really do.  Because you should have never left Alpine.  But you've learned from your mistake.  Rockford's most common stuff and everything pioneer is for people that work at Pizza Hut and live with their parents.  ;D

yeah my Avic was $1700 when I bought it new, have had it sent out to be repaired twice, it just started having the same problem again and my extended warranty is up now so no more free fixins so its going to my friend Geoff so he can use parts off of it to fix his.  My next pioneer cost about $500 and then I find out it has a bad internal ground for the RCA's so when I run it off my amps I get horrible alternator whine.  I spend a good 2 days tearing my entire system down and rewiring to make sure I didn't have a bad ground or a ground loop going somewhere.  Put a different deck in, quiet.  I am putting it in my wifes car because it doesn't run off any amps so it should be fine.  So she gets a nice new deck, XM radio, cd changer and I-pod and I do too, minus the cd changer.

oh yes, i was gonna tell you.. i have horrible alternator whine too. When i turn on my stereo the alternator starts wizzing. It sounds like it's coming out of my speakers, but i know it's alternator whine.

ive had all my pioneer crap for about 2 years now. i guess im lucky not to have anything go wrong yet. well anyway i am going to be going with alpine when i get the money.

I absolutly loved My Premier Deck. Alot better than the kenwood I had to settle with. Mind you.. Sony Decks are effin awesome.. Either that or a Clarion Touch screen. I wont get Alpine.. too over prices/rated for the performance

Your power wires are running too close to your audio wires.  They sell shitty little adapters to cut back on the sound, the right thing to do is upgrade and run proper wires away from any high current wires.  The whine is the alternator fluctuation through the wires.

you know where i stand on Pioneer now, Kenwood is good, Clarion used to be good back in the day but anymore... Sony's are big pieces of poo, and alpine you get what you pay for.  I paid less for this deck than my stupid Avic and it has sooo many more features and is sooo much better, not to mention the sound quality has drastically improved.

eh to each their own I guess...

oh and now I can play mp3/wma DVD's so between that and my I-pod I am never swictching discs again.   ;D

to tell you the truth i havent put a disk in my h/u in more than a year cause i have the ipod interface. i love it to death but the only problem i have with it is the conector that goes into the ipod. it will play fine but then when i touch it or open my glove box(i ran it there) it will disconect(not the wire itself) and say STOP on the h/u. Nykon would you know anything about that

is it pioneer?  if it is its because it is crap.
Mine always froze up my i-pod and I would have to restart it.

Ok.. Answer me this.. Have ANY of you Run a Sony Deck in the last 3 years.. If not you guys are complete idiots.. They were excrement up until about 3 years ago.. Then they started putting out good quality work that Rivals Alpine(yes I said it) My dad has a Sony deck and its absolutly Gorgeous.. Nothing special. I regret buying my Kenwood and I will never buy alpine

Yea.. But how many of those bad reps were from people who have never used them. Or Car audio guys who have never installed them(Yea. I had a few guys who had never seen a sony deck give them a bad rep)

Just because people say somthing sucks doesnt mean it does. Like cmon.. Alot of people on ASEC give ASOG(And Visa Versa) a bad rep.. Does it mean we suck and we arent reliable.

Yes. And it sucked. I payed more for less.

It cost me 250 Canadian for the deck and it didnt have the pre-outs I needed. I woul dhave had to pay another 100 to get the pre-outs. SO. I went with a Kenwood deck for the same price(regret that too) because my Dad got a Sony with More features for less.

Sony is a great deck for someone that wants looks over sound quality.  The quality isn't bad, but it's not as good as Alpine.  You will pay a lot more for Alpine because you're paying for the reputation and the assurance that it will beat anything else in it's class.  They are usually one of the last ones to come out with the "Newest" thing because the do WAY more research than any other company out there.

I have almost ten years experience installing systems.  The systems you run is always about you, what do you want out of it.  I want functionality and clarity, I buy Alpine.  I spent a buttload of money on my set up, and it won't hit as hard as something half the price that the 16 year old next to me has, but mine will last longer and has MUCH better SQ. 

I concur.  My alpine sounds soo much better than my Pioneers ever did, and I actually did pay less cause now I have the hookup.  Not to mention longevity, the deck I am giving to Matt, other than the buttons being worn a bit has never failed to do anything it is supposed to.  I had problems with my stupid pioneer N1 almost out of the box, the replacement was great till I hooked up some amps.

If you didn't have the preouts you needed you should have done more research on the deck you needed.

and yeah, Sony are crap, got Xplode H/U in my car from my bud's truck (replaced my OEM stereo)... lol i could "hear" my engine's RPMs  :-X
somehow there will be a quite whistling sounds (not high pitch) which gets louder or quieter depending on RPMs

any of u heard about Eclipse (company) stuff?

Eclipse stereos are pretty good.  I rank them with Clarion, pretty high up there.

insiders are not into sony all that much unless they get sponsroship from them( i have  a friend that works at an audio store nad they pretty much hate them)

As for alpine i have an amazing head unit its the CDA-9833, that and any modle above are wonderful...a little expensive but they have lots of sounds processing to make it all sounds amazing.
