So first thing I have to say is We should definitely add a new audio Section for questions like this. But anyways.... I just got an LED underbody kit installed in my car at a local shop known to be one of the best in the area. While I was inside having the install done I noticed a sign they had up that Said " 600Watt Patriot Amp, Custom built Enclosure, And 2 Patriot 12 inch Subwoofers for $199.  :o And I asked one of the techs there about them and he said he's installed them in about 10 cars and they actually hit pretty hard. I don't have a big budget and I didn't think I'd be able to get subs for quite awhile b/c of how expensive amps, boxes, and the whole deal actually is so this seems a little too good to be true. I also looked up Patriot online and can't hardly find anything about it. Does anyone know anything about these and if so Are they just Pieces of crap or are they ok? Thanks for any help you guys can offer b/c I just don't know  ??? ???

1.  They have been adding forums all day so I'm sure there will be an audio one in no time...
2.  I have never heard of Patriot either.  I did a search online too and didn't find much either.  I would be sceptical unless someone can put in a good word about them.  Did you ask if their is any way you can hear the setup?

I didn't ask if there was anyway I could hear it just because I didn't notice the sign till Shortly before I left and I They were busy so I only even had a second to ask the tech about them. I'm hoping someone knows something b/c 1) If they are bad I don't want to buy them 2) If they are ok I will buy them and 3) If they are good I could always Let some of you know how to contact the shop and someone else can get in on what sounds like a great deal. So Any advice?

you always get what you pay for. In this world there really is no good cheap deal unless you know somebody. They may be great for just general riding around town listening to them, but don't expect to win any competitions or score big points at shows with them in your car :)

i agree with glacius. just keep saving till you can get something good. otherwise you'll be kicking your butt about it later when your "discount subs" blow and then you have no money AND no subs

Okay, thanks for the advice. Sounds like it'll be quite awhile before I get some subs. But still, if anyone has heard of these let me know. For now , I'll be waiting. I did just install the LED kit and that really ate up my money. Thanks for the help!  ;D

Personally I'm not a big flashy light fan. That money could easily go into upgrading suspension, performance or things like that, but everybody starts off somewhere :) Keep your eyes on the fleamarkets and what not, quite often I can find stereo shops trying to dump inventory and pickup good deals on something decent like audiobahn subs and the like

well if it is $199, i am guessing they are use or just a cheep brand. Either way if you want them to last i would not suggest them.
Cause if they are used, the subs take the most punishment, so buying them used is not a good idea. And well its your money but

I've seen them at local flea markets ... The subs look fairly junky... The amp looks allot like the Pyramid (trash)...
I can get the mentioned components 600W amp/sub/Box for $100...

Check out eBay.  I"m a HUGE fan of Alpine, and have had nothing but good luck with them.

I have R-Types all around in the car.  Rear 6x9 front 6.5 and two R-type subs.  Amp for the speaks and one amp for each sub.  Sounds nice, and not too expensive through eBay.

Okay, So...Someone told me to check out this website- http://www.ikesound.com And I did. But, As you can tell I do not know anything about how this works such as what kind of Amp goes with what sub etc....If you all went to this site what would be a decent combination of Sub and Amp. Meaning...The cheapest GOOD setup for our cars. I guess I could just have a local shop Build me a box for the Sub/subs??? I dunno exactly what they charge for that though, unless any of you know where to get a cheap box as well. THanks for the help!!

Start off by telling us what you want i.e. One super powerful sub, two subs, speakers amps for which.  And then how much do you have to spend?

Well right now I only have 250 At the most to spend. I may just have to save up for awhile, B/c I dunno if it's possible to get a setup for that. Currently in my Car I have an Infinity Kappa Component setup but I have no subs. I love to crank the bass in my music And My 6X9's Do put out good bass for a car stereo but they're just lacking The punch Subs offer and I need that b/c I love the bass line and I'd just love the sound when I roll into a parking lot too. I mean I like to show off a little but I don't need any competition winning setups, just something to keep me happy and give me the bass I need in my music. I don't care if it's one sub , 2 subs, A Tube , whatever. I just don't know What I need at all I guess. So I guess I just need help.

If you like Infinity stick with it, great brand.

Sounds great, A little much for me this month though, It'll be awhile before I can do that I guess. Did you check out the Ikesound.com Site? Things seem pretty well priced on there , is there anyway I could make a cheaper but still decent setup off of that site?

I'm at work right now, I'll check it out tomorrow and get back to you.  I like eBay because of buyer protection and the prices.  That's why I link them so much for other people.  I'll check out Ike and see what they have, but truth is anything in there will be cheaper on eBay.  I'll get back to you tomorrow! ;D

Hey, On Asec I got this reply.."  have a used set of Poweracoustik 10's, slotted sub box, Powerqcoustik 520 watt amp, and a new 8 Gauge amp kit for 250 shipped if you would like. it sounds great in my Sebring. It was a trade in from a customer that upgraded and i threw it in my car until my new equipment comes in"

PA isn't too bad, kinda need to know what model subs and all they are, but that sounds pretty decent, and will get you off on the right foot.

For price depending on the model like G said.  But I'm always a fan of just setting it up right, right away. Run 0 or 4 gauge right away, that way you don't have to re-rerun wires later on, and save you some money.  You won't be buying two sets, only one.  More expensive right away, but in the long haul it'll be cheaper.

I saw, sell your Kappas, invest that money into some perfects and stick a speaker amp on that.  It'll give you good sound and some good bass.  Then the more money you get the more you can invest.

I checked out Ike, and it didn't seem like they had enough selection.  I"m not a fan of mutated systems.  I.E. running a bunch of different components.  Stick with one, or Two at the most.  Save up do it right, that way you're not changing excrement out every couple of months.  Get some deals, use eBay and make sure it's from people you trust.  I use eBay all the frickin time.  If you don't use it often and feel uncomfortable with it, let me know and I'll check stuff before you bid!!

What did you mean in your last post about running two sets not just one? I thought it said it comes with a set of 10's. Are you saying it's not a good setup or not all I'll need to start out?? Thanks for the help  :)

he means staying with 1 brand and not mixmatching stuff. You don't want kicker speakers on a Power acoustics amp driven by an alpine radio paired with kenwood components, y'know ;)

Glacius hit it on the head.  Don't mix and match brand names.

makes for a much cleaner and more professional look ;)

Not to mention the sound.  Different audio components are made to spec with others of the same brand, you will get more out of a sub that's hooked up to the same brand amp than some other amp.  Just like boxes.  You can have any box you want, but when you make one according to Manufacturer's specs the sound is way better!

amp is a ov2520, subs are pabl10's, sub box is a Qbass10 by Q power, amp kit is a Audiopipe 8 gauge complete amp kit.  These are the specs on the PA setup. Sounds good...bad??? Thanks for all of the help

It's your cash, but I say wait, save especially with Christmas coming up, and after wards with Grandma money, but a good set up.  Never heard of audiopipe.  Doesn't mean it's bad, but never heard of it.  If you really want it, go for it.  But if it was my money I wouldn't get it.

Audio pipe is just a WIRING kit ... Hard to screw up wires

Yeah it is, but the quality can still change.   If the RCA's are included those are pretty important for sound.  The insulation and the ability to carry a large load for the length of the car.  He might not be going for competition but if you're not spending a lot on the amp and subs, the better wires will help.
