Title: aftermarket direct tire monitoring systems Post by: Tig on December 21, 2005, 02:32:46 PM anybody have one? looking for a good one with a fairly nice looking display that is a direct monitoring system vs. the indirect ones which run of your abs. i think it would be worth it in the long run to purchase one of these systems as i seem to keep going through tires like crazy lately. and at 200 beans a pop, i've spent entirely too much this year on tires. problem is that they are so thin to begin with (runing the 225/35/18 size), you can't really tell when they are low. you may not even feel it at all driving. that is until you feel a vibration of the f'ing sidewall knotting up!!! then its too late and you've wasted another 200 bucks! i had a suspension issue wearing out the sidewalls of my tires earlier this year, but that's fixed now. but somehow i've just killed two more tires. i think it would be in my best interest to get a monitoring system that tells me what psi each tire is at currently and with an idiot light. :)
anyone have one of these? what kind would you recommend? thanks guys! mandy Title: Re: aftermarket direct tire monitoring systems Post by: Davedodger on December 27, 2005, 06:16:49 PM I haven't spent much time on this but this link looks to me to be the easiest and the least expensive. You don't need your tires re-balanced with this set up. Granted, the display panel isn't the greatest looking, but it tells you what you need to know. Interesting fact, this is soon to be mandatory on newer cars. You could go the cheapest route and get some safety caps for your valve stems at Autozone, they look like something your grandfolks would have.
