Title: Dr Jekyll, Mr Hyde
Post by: Shiano on May 07, 2007, 01:56:49 AM
I have seen two transmission codes for the 5spd:

A578
NVT-350

Are these one and the same or are their two different Manual Transmissions that will bolt up to the 420A?

If there ARE two different ones, without a casting number, how do you tell them apart? Are their any detailed pictures of the exteriors?

Please no whoring on this one.

nvt-350 is the manufacturer's name
chrysler don't make those transmissions they buy them from New Venture Transmission which also sell some to GM, some cavaliers and Saturn had them too
A578 is Chrysler code name for the same tranny and if you search around you will also find a third name for the mitsubishi catalog

Please no whoring on this one.

now you know how I feel ......

Yes, this thread is designed purely for technical reasons.

Until I replace my speed sensor, i cannot 100% this but i can 99% it:

I think my gear ratios are wrong.

When I'm doing 60mph in 5th, i'm running 3000RPM. 80mph is 4000RPM. Did they do anything different to the GM versions?

Also, is NVT's website N.V.T. run together or do you know Alain?
