Title: VR4 Sumitomo Calipers on Avenger!! Post by: Jae on April 17, 2007, 07:07:49 AM Hello...
I finally got around to putting together the VR4 calipers on my Avenger....I had to graduate and look for a job and stuff... so got little delayed. Here are the pics!! Before!! (http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u320/flavaj78/Before.jpg) After... (w/ 17 OEM rim) (http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u320/flavaj78/Caliperwithrim.jpg) (http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u320/flavaj78/Caliperandrotor.jpg) But as always, got a little problem. The brake feels too soft. How would can I tell if I have air in the master cylinder? I bled all four sides starting from Passenger Right Rear -> Passenger Left Rear-> Front Passenger side-> Driver side. thanks! -Jae Title: Re: VR4 Sumitomo Calipers on Avenger!! Post by: Shiano on April 17, 2007, 08:36:40 AM I dont' know the proper ABS bleeding method but there are a handful here that do. Check with them [they'll probably post pretty soon] once they post. this is to tide you over until they get here.
Title: Re: VR4 Sumitomo Calipers on Avenger!! Post by: admin on April 17, 2007, 12:13:46 PM you are going to have to change your master cylinder as well..
The master comes in 3 different sizes.. Get the master off a 95-99 talon TSi AWD.. The stock master is like 15/16".. AWD one I think is 1-1/16 makes a big difference.. also.. you'll need to use a suction pump to bleed the brakes properly. Title: Re: VR4 Sumitomo Calipers on Avenger!! one pushing and holding the break other is opening/closing the bolt and VR4 is from 3kgt or stealth? Title: Re: VR4 Sumitomo Calipers on Avenger!! Post by: Nykon on April 17, 2007, 07:35:07 PM yeah.
you can also use GSX calipers off the Eclipse. I am not sure if you have to change the master Cylinder... Title: Re: VR4 Sumitomo Calipers on Avenger!! Post by: Jae on April 17, 2007, 08:54:41 PM ...VR4 is from 3kgt or stealth? The calipers are from '92 3000GT.( The Stealth ones don't have "MITSUBISHI" on them.) The rotors are from '97 Supra TT. (Had to make the center hole larger.) Although, 3kgt rotors might have worked. But the author from DSM forum suggested Audi A6 first. All new lines, including the hard-line from '92 3kgt/eclipse. How would I bleed the master cylinder???? Would I just fill the brake cyclinder w/ fluid then bleed all four calipers?? thanks! Title: Re: VR4 Sumitomo Calipers on Avenger!! Post by: Jae on April 17, 2007, 10:29:16 PM Get the master off a 95-99 talon TSi AWD.. The stock master is like 15/16".. AWD one I think is 1-1/16 makes a big difference.. The master cylinder for 95-99 AWD Talon TSi/ Eclipse GSX has 1" bore. But the 3000GT VR4 has 1 1/16. 3000GT ones have one of the hard line port on the side. I got these data from rockauto. Will the 1" bore master cyclinder will help with my brake problem? Title: Re: VR4 Sumitomo Calipers on Avenger!! Post by: admin on April 19, 2007, 02:52:19 PM you need the bigger master..
the stock master doesn't move enough fluid to accomidate 4 piston calipers.. get the whole assembly with the larger brake booster. Title: Re: VR4 Sumitomo Calipers on Avenger!! Post by: fixitfirstime on August 16, 2007, 04:16:40 AM Master cylinder is always bled first with the kit that comes with it...HELP package in napa might have one if you are using a boneyard unit.
