I'll put mine up after I fix my water pump.  The exhaust sounds good the bearing whine does not!

the bosal was on the eclipse right?
....a little bit high pitched for my taste unless it would sound better on the V6 bring??

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: mcgyvr on April 16, 2007, 04:17:51 PM
That sounds NOTHING like my bosal catback.
(or my flowmaster when I had it)
Mine sounds good. Those clips sound raspy as hell.
You need a resonator big time.

Ill be a geek too and try to get the sounds of mine for you also.

:-\ that's why we recorded the venge?

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: Matt on April 17, 2007, 02:11:22 AM

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: Matt on April 17, 2007, 04:11:02 AM

Ha. you see that? they  like how my car sounds..

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: Rob Brown on April 18, 2007, 02:12:44 AM
well they do get a bit raspy at HIGHER rpm's BUT that is typical for cars like these basically anything thats not a V8 LOL....

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: Nykon on April 18, 2007, 02:18:20 AM
Well like mcgyvr said, it needs a resonator.  I had them taken out cause I listened to somebody that didn't know.
I had one put back in and it helped a lot but obviosly there is still some rasp there.

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: Rob Brown on April 18, 2007, 02:23:49 AM
oh ok so how much of a difference was the sound with it off and on with ther 40 series?

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: Matt on April 18, 2007, 03:54:57 AM
mine has a resonator

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: mcgyvr on April 18, 2007, 07:44:48 PM
Sounds like you've got exhaust leaks too.

With a decent resonator it should NOT sound like that
Even with the stock muffler system and a flowmaster welded on it should not sound like that.

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: Nykon on April 18, 2007, 08:53:58 PM
Its possible you have exhaust leaks, and the exhaust shop might not have put a resonator back in, or a crappy one.  I don't know...

That exhaust is about 6 or 7 years old.

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: Alain95i4 on April 21, 2007, 12:46:41 AM
try to beat that sound    ;D
http://www.myspace.com/alain95i4
go to videos

stock downpipe modified to be longer
no cat instead it's a section of 2.5 inch " test pipe "    ::)
from the " test pipe " it goes to 3 inch and into a small resonator
and from the resonator it goes to a glass pack name unknowned

I bought and modified DaveW old system from way way back when there was no commercial catback for our cars

thats sounds pretty damn good ;) I'd like to upload a vid of my exhaust too but I dont have any recording devices  >:( most people who ride with me or have driven my car think its sweet while others say it sounds like a dirt bike. there are times when it bothers me like when I'm accelerating slowly it'll rap for a few seconds(2200-2400) then go back to the drone, when it raps at the higher rpm and I can hear the engine roaring I like that, also when I downshift it rumbles and backfires a couple times

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: JusBringIt on April 22, 2007, 09:20:13 AM
does not sound like a car at all! i would like to hear it rev :)

Title: Re: Exhaust Sounds
Post by: Ivan on April 22, 2007, 03:02:24 PM
and i noticed that every one puts the camera RIGHT in the damn exhaust pipes...

put the camera perpendicular and 2 feet away from the muffler.  definitely will have different sound

and rev  ;)

I give up
the clip was deleted AGAIN
what's wrong with that ?
it's only a rpm gauge
it was deleted a first time already and I had to upload it again

and now I just tried several time to upload it again tonight for a third time and all I got was
the so common "an unexpected error bla bla bla " ... like an error could be expected to start with  ;D

I'll do a bunch of clips next weekend and try to put them somewhere else

I love that his car looks stock and is dirty in the engine bay.   ;D

I love that his car looks stock and is dirty in the engine bay.   ;D

the secret for a perpetual dirty engine bay
1 do a experimental engine swap
2 have a mysterious oil leak on the engine which you can't find the source after searching for months
3 have no time to clean because you have plenty to do mechanically because of the swap like splitting a flexplate in half in january by a temperature of minus 25 and dropping the transmission in a garage with a cement floor heated just a few degres above the freezing point
4 put the car under a tarp and let it sit under 3 to 6 feet of snow for 5 months

when I opened the hood last week I was horrified
almost every aluminium part was covered with the typical thick dust that aluminium makes when it rust
and the battery poles were covered with 1 inch thick of dried acid crust

and I had no time to clean either because I had a transmission to fix which I did and which include spilling tranny fuild everywhere

my philosophy tirgh now is : Show me  clean engine bay and I will show you a car owner who don't do much heavy mechanics  :(

saturday I have more stuff to do including an engine and battery wash if I have time
I have to change the 2 battery connector also

Alain

I wasn't dogging on it, I think its great, now I don't feel bad if mine is dirty.

Its not, because I have no time or money right now for heavy mechanical work.   ;D
