look at the new shoes im getting  8)

225/45ZR17 kumho tires, with which i belive are Arceo 17x7.5 rims 42mm offset

NO scratches, 70%+ tread left, only has about 6,000km on them he only drove them on weekends for 2 summers!! he paid 1600 for em when he bought them.... now we have worked out a deal for 750.. what you's think ?

yeah i know what u mean, i was so inpatient to get my wheels delivered to me after i bought  them.   i was so ready to get off the 14" stock wheels with wal-mart hub caps hahahah

oh why how much of a gap will there be?? cuz the car is pretty low as it is now and what not....plus it only for daily driving to work and back...

well just got home with my new Avenger .....

it a 1995 im pretty sure it the base coupe model, but there ONLY 160,000km just rolled over to 160,000km...... there is absoutly NO RUST on the car ANYWERE!!!! 4cylinder, auto, gotta take it for safety on monday, and those rims and tire will be going on this car soon hopefully, and i got the car for 1600..interior is mint as well...timing belt and water pump were done 25k ago...

anyway here is a pic of the car after the 1hour and half drive home... damn snow!!

5spd Swap anyone?

Yeah, that would be my first mod.  The I4 auto is so sloooooowww!

how hard is the 5spd swap ? also how much does it cost ? lol

I used to have those identical tires.. I enjoyed them.. one of kumho's top rated.

The 5 speed sway isn't too bad if your at a Middle to high rate of mechanical understanding.  Could be done in one day.  If you're not that good, take it to someone.  Drive to my house, pay me money.  ;D

i actually didn't know 4bangers came with auto tranny too... wow

but the fact that timing belt and water pump were changed thats very good, now just do some small maintenance work to it

and Darktengu what would it cost to do a 5spd swap ? like with someone like yourself doing it ? i do have mechanical experince but aint got tools or space here to do it...

Going rate for mechanics is 55-85 dollars an hour.  I'd guess for a shop to do it they would quote eight hours?  I'm not sure.  I've pulled my tranny about a dozen times.  I've run new shift cables, once.  The problem is setting up the hydraulics for the clutch.  And you need a new computer, but that's not that hard to swap.  I charge 20-50 bucks an hour depending on whether or not I like a person and how hard a job it is.

If you're close enough to me, I'd be more than willing to help you with your car if you're going to swap it.  Even if you don't live that close, I have a spare room.  We could make it a weekend deal.

I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  I have no idea where anything in Canada is.  Cost of the sway?  Ask Nykon for some prices on everything you'd need.

wow  a 5spd swap seems like ALOT of work, and ALOT of money LOL....

A lot of work yes.. as for cash if you do it yourself, It could be done under 150$ depending on if all the donor parts are salvageable.

I believe it is a straight swap.. And everything will bolt on. I'm not sure if the mounts lign up the same as an auto tranny.

I was in the process of swapping a 5 spd into my old car which was a straight bolt on. Only tough part is the clutch... cutting, bolting, lines.

he listed a lot of parts, but if u think about it, like "shift boot, shifter, shift knob" is pretty much 1 piece

but cmon guys, he just got the car... let him drive it for a while see if he likes it

depending on where he lives, auto could better than manual for commute

...but then again, stick is the best thing ever  :D

ya you guys !!!! lol plus i plan on using most of my money towards my jeep i have that is my weekend warrior, and the avenger is my all year daily driver :P.... so i mean i do wanna do small stuff to the car like big stereo, and rims and tires which i have now :)... and other then that maybe a few small things that dont cost nothing like clearing the amber turn signals and excrement...all though i would like a different exhuast as well eventually a si have stated in my other thread !

probly not much over 115 mph so whatever that converts to is where the ECU or the drag coefficient will stop u

thats roughly like 190k or so.....

been over 100mph thats for sure  :P held up pretty good i must say... but loud and noisy though

naw those are 17's wrapped with some 225/45's :)

yeah ive been over 100 on mine and it didnt really care for it, rev was pretty high up so i maybe coulda pused to 120 but thats with the V6and thats pushing it....

I hit 135  ;D.. not recommended unless you have a good, straight, smooth stretch.

yikes yeah it takes a little space to get to 100 let alone 135...damn well im sure my speed will increase when i get my intake and catback even if its only by a little...as is now its completly stock and in serious need of a tune up

lol thanks for the concern...ive only ever tried it out at my friends house....which is pretty much hillbilly heaven with LONG roads that are never partrolled and the worst thing you can do is hit a rabbit or racoon...well ok a dear is the biggest thing out there but we havent seen many...other than that public roads are off limits for that stuff

i dont plan on seeing what my car will do... was only curious ;) i have ben up to PRETTY HIGH speeds in my dad's fire bird he had and my camaro i had as well   ;D

Mine will top out somewhere near the 200 mark if I"m luck.  That's when I"m done, and on a track.

good luck finding a track big enough to get to that speed though no drag will allow you on it at that speed without serious safty measures, such as a parachute(requiered once you exceed 160mph) and a wheelie bar for the fact that almost no front wheel drive car capable of that speed can conect to the ground and also have a high probability to flip or go out of control.

As for finding a track I can do that at.  I already have one.  ;) 

eh despite the power( you will need more than 200, much more more like 300) i really doubt that the aerodynamics of these cars will hold up at 200 mph, you might want to get a front splitter and a rear defuser before attempting that, air under the car at that speed will flip if theres not enough downforce, and despite the rice look a steep spoiler will be helpful as well

I'm doing all kinds of body work on it.  And the track I"ll be on is an oval.  So I'll be stiffening like crazy.

also u can change your power steering if u r gonna go on the oval at high RPMs if its gonna be too much hustle to keep the wheel turned to the left, since our power steering depends on RPMs.... umm i dont remember where i read it but u can do something to the sensor at the PS pump.

the air resistance at 200 miles per hour on a car like hours is enough to lift a 747....no joke...u have to have some serious spoiler that u have to remove after the end of the race..i saw one one hear before...park bencH??

...now that i think of it..i might not even waste my gas beating u...then again..i only have a cai rite now :P. i really cant do anything to the car...the most ill probably have is a bored tb......not even a proper exhaust...

So seriously from the Physics standpoint is 200MPH in my car too much to shoot for?

well, you have to do a lot of ground effects. splitters, spoiler (double deck is the best idea).  bad venge has something on his front bumper would do u good. get lowering springs and make the front about an inch lower than the back .just a bunch of stuff like that..make sure its on the car pretty good of course..u dont want those things flying of....at the speed u plan on  going ....that the last thing u need..just make sure everything is completely stable in harsh small-tornado size winds....

i wouldnt worry about all that....the power needed is almost unimaginable..with our cars..at least 550 hp...more like 600 tho to get there...

yeah i mean if you look at the cars around today the ZO6, ferraris, lambos that still have trouble going much over 230 (the ZO6 is limited at 190 even by drag and gov. limits) the ammount of work that would be required to get it to that speed is insane i wouldnt be surprised to see it hit 150 maaaaybe even 160 but you cant use the same engine without SERIOUS modification( im not the smartest guy ehre when it comes to what will be needed but think of the presures that power will create on oil water etc), the ammount of force that that would create is insane and after all that is gonna be done to it FORGET daily driver and expect also like 6 MPG. however with an unlimited budget im sure it will happen...lol realisticly though probably no
