Title: duel exhaust
Post by: Antony on February 19, 2007, 03:44:14 PM
Do they sell them any where? If not how would you go about making them..

No one SELLS them premade ...
Exhaust shop can custom fab them either complete from front to rear OR "Y" at the rear and split them out there

if your going to drop the cash at a shop get the true duals, not the y pipe my bro's sunfire gt had the y pipe and exhaust only flowed through the one side... stupid and a waste of money.

Then theres no reason for a downpipe.. But get charged up the A$$ for 2 higflow cats. ;D

Talk to JBI... he's fabbing up a good system up with alot of research gone into it for the best HP results. I think its posponed for abit now though.

yeah its a project that got suspended due to circumstances beyond my control. I still have a couple of the basic parts i need, when i get some free time Ill do a more complete design and take a good look. I will need a test car of course, and i dont plan on testing on my venge( im getting one in a couple weeks)  cuz mistakes can be costly. there's a shop that i had mentioned before that does everything, so ill see what they can do. they custom make pipes and stuff, so ill see what can be done. I'll use my dp that i received from scott (sroufe7) and modify to see if i can get an X-pipe (critical to the system). I'm looking at dual 2.5" if u have headers and dual 2.0" without. I could probably just work with scott to see if he could make a modified dp to adapt to a dual setup.

Oh haha!.. Didnt even know that was you Rick..  With the name change and all. :D

And by the modified DP, you mean split after the rear manifold?

yeah, i was gonna see how long it would take ppl to figure it out, then i just decided that would take forever.

as for the modified dp, it would basically not be joined at all, except at a fabricated X-pipe. the piece that connects the rear manifold to the main pipe is gonna be separate..here's an example of how it will be:

(just the downpipe) up the part where the rear manifold connects to the main pipe thats how it will look, but instead of just becoming one larger pipe, it will meet and separate at the X for the two separate 2.5" or 2.0"

Hmm .. thats not along the lines I was thinking of.. but that DP would be very efficient for equal flow alot better the single DPs.. but if you were to do that, you might as well do true dual.

I was talking about splitting the DP at the end. So the Y is closer to the engine. It would be a DP built for dual exhaust.

yeah, instead of just splitting after the dp, ill do the true duals since my setup wouldnt work otherwise

yea that sounds like too much work sooo im just gonna get a bosal exhaust

In running dual exhaust on the Venge/Sebrings keep in mind that there is no channel in the body on the other side and you are going to be EXTREMELY close to the fuel tank and there are some rear suspension issues.  It has been done but people have had to get creative.

yeap too much work, ill take the bolt on bosal system

run the pipes out of the side before the rear tires.

lol omg that would look so funny on an avenger

Not if you set it up right.

Side pipes with cut-outs in the side skirts just in front of the rear tires would look pretty slick.

again with the too much work

....tch tch tch....dont worry, if u have the car long enough, one day you'll do it..i was actually thinking the side skirt for dual exhaust was pretty neat, but i wont have side skirt, and ill do all the planning to make it work.

i dont think u r gonna pass inspection/emission with side exhaust  :P

:D....where I am right now, id MAKE u get rid of all ur catalytic converters so emissions would be obsolete.(if i had the authority) ..I cant help but support global warming..im freezing!!!

i prefer out the back though..that just looks hot

If you went dual 2.5" all the way back...thats way to big man.

On a stock car i'd go dual 2"
A car with FI i'd use 2.25"

We did an estimate for a guy on the boards.

$750 for duals

2 flex sections
dual inlet/outlet converter
2 exhaust pipes
2 Flowmaster mufflers

Tips are extra

 ;)

o i already have the flowmasters..not bad tho...not bad at all..i wanted to go 2.5 cuz i was planning on modifying it a bit...if u dont mind..but 2.25 would probably work just as well..as long as the pipes are the same diameter as the headers....which i should measure.

The headers are 2.5"

Problem is they only make dual inlet/outlet converters 2" no 2.25" or 2.5"

But we can cut the in and outlets off and make the 2.25" work without a problem.

Or we can get the converters they just came out with are spun converters.  But you'll lookin at over or about $200 more for those.
We run 2 of those and then have put in an "x" or "h" pipe.

now that u mention it, the "H" doesnt seem like  abad idea. it would be easier to work with (from what i plan on doing). Do we have  a problem fitting two regular 2.5 cats?

You won't beable to fit 2 regualr sized converters.

thats what I thought....ok so the h-pipe and dual cats, dual converter (i ahve the flowmaster.....quote?

If you went with the 2 spun converters it would be about $650
The new spun converters are the highest flowing ones on the market right now.

If you went with the dual inlet/outlet converter it would be about $550

option 1. nothing but the best.

one prob. Its a 21 hr drive :-\.

If you are going to carlisle, could it possibly be done there? unless i go on a road trip that would be some trip.

Be kinda hard to do custom exhaust out of the shop  ;)

Plus I don't do the exhaust...the old man does.

And i don't plan on turning a wrench while I'm at Chryslers  ;D

o well, i tried :D. but ill do it one of these days, i will take that road trip, it'll be worth it. it may be a while longer than i thought.
