Title: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Ivan on January 24, 2007, 05:13:53 AM Alright fellas, i am really considerring to change my exhaust. Flowmaster 40 series is def. one thing checked in.
But I have several questions and I hope you can help me out: 1) Do those Ebay headers any good? (suggestion about other places to get headers?) 2) Does it really worth putting a new header in if i am not looking for a high-end power? (some header reviews tell that results are noticed on high-end) 3) If I am gonna get new header and new muffler, is it alright to keep stock exhaust pipe? Or should I get a custom piping done with it? I hope you guys can help me out and again thanks :) -Ivan Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: burnt_toast on January 24, 2007, 06:10:48 AM if you don't go bigger with the pipping, as in stay 2.25in (or are the 2.0L 2in??), then some mandrel bent pipping will flow better than stock. So if you have the money, I say go for it.
As far as high-end power, means its higher up in the revs. Are you just looking for more torque? Headers should show improvement over stock in all areas, but mainly high end. This ebay header (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-99-EAGLE-TALON-NT-DODGE-AVENGER-2-0L-CERAMIC-HEADER_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33631QQhashZitem260078130502QQihZ016QQitemZ260078130502QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) says it adds hp and torque, and its ceramic coated! Looks too good to be true though, so I'd wait on some more feedback from others on this. Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Ivan on January 24, 2007, 06:13:22 PM Piping is 2 1/4. I might get a hook up with making a custom pipe work, not sure yet :-\
And i was looking at [Header][/http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TALON-DODGE-AVENGER-4-1-95-99-NT-2-0L-STAINLESS-HEADER_W0QQitemZ220073645778QQihZ012QQcategoryZ33631QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem] Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Nykon on January 24, 2007, 07:09:40 PM If I recall right the 4-2-1 header will help with your low end more than high end.
I would also stick with a reliable brand like Pacesetter or Aeromass. http://www.howellautomotive.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=409 Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Patrick on January 26, 2007, 04:26:03 AM Just from what I have heard so dont quote me on this.....
Ebay headers are good , yes pacesetter or bosal are better ( of course named brand ) but also I have heard that that there is not to much of a difference unless you get a new cat-back , cam , and more. From what I think , the Ebay ones are like 80 dollars , that is like cutting the price of pacesetters in a little more then half in price. I to plan on getting the ones on Ebay. peace Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Shiano on January 26, 2007, 09:10:22 AM I have the ebay ones on my 420a and i hate them. I've had to replace the exhaust flange gasket already and had to use a decent amount of gasket sealant to seal it.
this might be my sensor going but when i sit at idle for 5 minutes or more, my cel comes on and reads o2 malfunction. Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Ivan on January 27, 2007, 06:08:37 AM :-\ errrr
Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Patrick on January 27, 2007, 07:41:51 AM Sucks man , I have also heard thought they are decent. I'm just wanting to get rid of my stock ones........but i dont want alot of trouble.
Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Ivan on January 27, 2007, 10:57:02 PM yeah you see thats my issue. Some Ebay stuff are pretty much as good as know brands (like take CAI intakes for example, i love mine off Ebay and people say 35$ and 200$ intakes are pretty much the same).
So here we go with headers, Ebay headers compared to known brands is in really big price difference... to conclude that, now we have to sides of discussion: one is pro Ebay headers, and other is anti Ebay headers. :P Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Patrick on January 28, 2007, 03:02:54 AM So which Ebay CAI did you get , I have also been looking at those.
Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Ivan on January 29, 2007, 02:43:08 AM So which Ebay CAI did you get , I have also been looking at those. Here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-98-99-00-Dodge-Avenger-Sebring-I4-V6-Air-Intake-W-CF_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQihZ004QQitemZ140079067316) The heat shiled will be different from the one in the picture. I got it with heat shield for "water shiled" haha, and it works good, i drove through some really, really flooded roads and didnt drown my engine :) And i really like it, gives the engine nice tone when u open up the throttle. Sounds awsome when u floor it from 3000 to like 4500 RPM :D Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Patrick on January 29, 2007, 04:46:35 AM not bad , I have been looking at chrome intakes CAI . Also How far does the piping go. Just where the box is? that could not be ......Cold air.....or do you have a opening or funnel?
Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Ivan on January 29, 2007, 05:20:00 PM it reaches to the bottom of the engine but doesn't stick out from the bottom. If you would remove (if you have) the left fog light, you would be (should be) able to see the filter.
It is a CAI. Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Patrick on January 29, 2007, 05:45:13 PM alright , I was just going by the pic on Ebay. It looks by that pic it only reaches the air box
Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: JusBringIt on January 29, 2007, 07:09:52 PM they have different ones. some are longer like injen, some are not. make sure u get the one that extends all the way...or just funnel it.
Title: Re: Advice and help with exhaust please Post by: Antony on January 29, 2007, 08:23:11 PM i got a chrome intake CAI off ebay and i like it it was about 50 bucks including shipping
