Another starting problem... i do have some engine problems but she always started until now. I had the car stored for some time, maybe about a month or 2 so the battery was dead. I boosted it with my dads Camry and it wouldn't start, left it chargin the battery for almost half an hour to see if its the battery, but still no luck. just checking around and i found that half of my intake filter was soaked in oil! lol

i dont really need drive her around just need to move her off my lawn lol.

New battery, soak the terminals in Coke overnight.

New air filter.

haha does that really work? lol well i don t think its my battery or terminals, when its boosted with the other car all the electronics works n stuff. its just that i get the cranking sound or what ever it is when i turn the key and thats it.

whats the oily air filter about, iv never seen that b4.

i forgot to mention that i cleaned the intake out (if that makes any difference ::)) and tried to start it with out the air filter lol ;D

It should start without an air filter.... do you have the stock  intake??

by clean your intake do you mean throttle body or plenum too??
if so how did you clean it?

no this part i dont know what its called. but i think im going to take off the intake and throttle body out and clean it. whats the best way to take it off and clean it. i sould take a pic of my in take filter lol

oh ya i just flushed it out with some industrial dish detergent

With the battery thing, don't rule it out.  I spent hours trying to trouble shoot a car that wouldn't start.  I tried jumping it a few times no go.  A buddy of mine brought over a fresh battery and it fired right up.  I felt stupid.  All the electronics worked on it too.

Isn't it a royal PITHA when things don't work! When it happens to me I think my car's fallen apart.

Try disconnecting your suspect battery and then jump it with a known good battery. If its cranking then I'd start checking for a spark by pulling a plug and laying it against your exhaust manifold. The spark plug needs a ground. While you've got the spark plug out, I'd check for fouling and oil build up. I'd concider replacing the all spark plugs with new ones. If you got spark check fuel. Verify those three things, if their okay then you'll have to start looking elsewhere. I've found the shop manuals most helpful when fault finding.
