Title: Not a truck guy, but.....
Post by: Darktengu on January 08, 2007, 04:09:44 PM
I had to move a bunch of stuff from my grandma's to her new place, and take a bunch of it home with me.  The Avenger isn't really a Big Mover type vehicle.   So Emily's dad allowed me to use his 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 (Cummings Turbo Diesel) only a bit over 4k on the odometer.  I was pretty surprised since he wouldn't let his brother use it.

This is what it looked like

not bad. i'm with you tho, i'm not really a truck guy either—they're just too darn big now-ah-daze. i hate driving big tanks. i don't mind the older ones, cuz they're a decent amount smaller.
everybody i know talk about how much safer a truck is b/c it's so much larger than a car. i keep telling 'em it all depends on what kinda a wreak you get into. not to mention the fact that they tend to flip over a heck-o-lot easier than a car does. how safe is that! larger doesn't equal safer. it is kinda funny he let you drive it and not his brother… lol.

I know I was kind of amazed.  He's the head of the Detective Bureau for Green Bay and Brown County (Green Bay is in Brown County)  and I know he's checked my driving record.  Granted all of my infractions were years ago, but still.

I'm not a truck guy either, but I'd still like to have one.

My FIL has a 2004 Dodge Ram Cummins.  Nice truck, but they are too much $$ for me and we don't need a pickup.  I'll stick with my 01 Tahoe.. it serves our needs.  It gets not too bad gas mileage, tho be nice if it were a diesel.  I love both cars and trucks.. they both have their uses.

my first veichle was a truck, a 91 s 10 that sat bout 3 inches off the ground. it was a fun lil toy, did a few other tricks to it but nothin major. i am a car guy but trucks are great too, i just dont like stock.  either slam em with big wheels or jack em with big tires.

nice truck tho, after all it IS a dodge!!!

I love trucks too.  my friend has a 98 s10 with shave everything, i do mean everything.  He has air ride, 2 15inch kicker comp subs, 20 inch chrome rims, sits on the ground.  I'll have to go tke pics of it with my new digital camera i got for christmas (6.0 megapixels)

to my experience they ride quite nice. same guy with the 93 dakota got a 2000 ram and it rides really nice for a truck (imo). way better than our stiff suspension cars… lol. but yeah, trucks don't ride like they use to. they got those things set up to ride like a caddy now-ah-daze. that's just my experience tho. DT, how did that one ride?

my neighboor has the 2500HD with the hemi.  nice truck, i rode in it and i thought it rode nicely for a truck.  He recently put headers and true dual exhaust on it, that thing is the nicest sounding truck.  loud tho, it wakes me up in the middle of the night.

It was great.  It had very smooth acceleration and shifting.  The seat was comfortable.  Driving too Milwaukee and back  (2.5 hours) and no issues with being uncomfortable.  I hate stock systems, but if that's something you consider this has a decent stock system.  It wasn't as bouncy as I expected a truck to be.

yeah trucks have become kinda sissified (nothing against you guys. you can't control the packages they come with). they're not the rugged, almost indestructible pieces of machinery they used to be.

Love mine ('98 Ram 4x4) and now that I have one, probably will never not have one. It's a wheel barrow on steroids.
