Title: Stereo newbie - replaced stock speakers, now car has trouble starting
Post by: joe on December 09, 2006, 01:31:06 AM
Hi,

I'm a total noob, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 98 'venger and had a blown out speaker, so I replaced them all with Sony XPlod's.  The fronts are XS-S160CX and the back are XS-V690HP.

Here are the power specs:

XS-S160CX

RMS Power Range : 2-55 Watts

XSV690HP

Power Range: 2-100 watts RMS (400 watts peak power)

I have the stock radio/CD player/cassette deck and have not added an amp or anything like that.

So, now my car has trouble starting and barely started right after I completed the installation.

Is this just a fluke - meaning this problem was there and just flared up now, or are the speakers causing it because they are too powerful, or could the speakers be defective and are causing this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks..

Just a guess you had the doors/trunk open for hours and test ran the speakers ,All running the battery down ....Throw a battery charger on it or jump sttart it and drive for awhile ...It should be fine

Thanks for the posts and the reassurance - indeed you were both correct.  Got a little scared there, that's why I had to post.

Thanks again!
