well any way, what happened was: Basically, i was at walmat one day, and the weather was kind of funny, but it was sunny when i drove to walmart, so i left my sun roof open. I was in there for 45 minutes, and the next thing i know, when i get out of walmart, its pouring rain. I ran quickly to the car, got inside, and saw that my sunroof area was wet and the material{what ever that gray material} is made of started to sag. a few days later, after it dried up, i tried to glue it back in its place with this special headliner spray, but it didnt help. I took of all the headliner out, and now i have sponge insead of headliner. I am wondering what i should do to get it covered again? should i take out the sponge as well, or should i just buy some fabric and just try to glue it back there. I really dont know where and how to tackle this. any tips?
Thanks for jogging my memory. My headliner has peeled back an inch or two from along the top of the rear window (13 years, go figure) do you think spray contact cement would do the job of fixing it, or do I need a trip to the upholstery shop too? I was thinking of getting it re-carpeted and re-upholstered as part of the restoration project, but now that that's already overbudget I'm trying to deal with these sorts of issues on the cheap...
Ooo, great how-to link! Too bad the photos don't come up anymore (at least for me), but you pretty much get the full gist from the words. I was thinking of just masking off the back and working on the peeling part in-situ, but this seems like the much better route to go.
Joann fabrics has the grey headliner material in stock ...
Thanks Bad. I see that there is a joann fabric store 4 miles away from my house in new jersey. The only problem is that i dont live in new jersey any more, i live in n.y, lol. But i will be going there to new jersey tommorow to do a bar b q thing in there with my family, so i might stop buy. Im little low on funds these days but if it is cheap enough, il might buy a few sqaure feet of that material. Do you know how much does it costs Bad?
Alot of businesses will be closed, so it's probably going to be a wasted trip away from the bbq. One should never waste bbq time.
ohh crap, i forgot about the stores being closed tommorow. How about the mall? I sure would like to go to the mall and sneak a peak at those fine blond american girls over there... They are the reason that I go to the mall, and the burger king as well, lol.
if u have a sewing machine now would be good time to do something cool like raised graffix or two tone it. its pretty easy to do just get a bunch of upholtry clamps and take ur time and let it set overnite befor u install it also if the water has mis shappened the head liner you can use fiberglass and resin to reshape it on the back side of the headliner pugsley
