aftermarket ECU
« on: March 27, 2007, 07:01:41 AM »

i'm very interested in trashing the stock computer.... but my research efforts have been met with lots of web pages that are purely advertisements and not a whole lot of real info. is it very difficult to use/wire up a programmable computer? what do they cost (i realize that there is probably a huge range of prices but ballpark for something worth my time would be nice). i am aware of megasquirt, but from my understanding it only controls fuel injectors and not ignition.

please, any point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, lust a link or two is all i'm hoping for.

megasquirt does fuel and fire and in several options too
if the 5 speed swap finaly work (see the ASEC board for progress) using a standalone engine management will also be a reality
but as long as you have the ATX you are stuck with the stock computer too because the transmission computer talks to the engine computer and they share informations
without a working engine computer , even if you have an engine working with a standalone, the atx transmission won't work at all
