Spec Stage 4 Clutch
« on: November 27, 2005, 04:54:40 PM »

Anyone have one?

If so, where did you get it? How much did you pay? And how long did it take to get to you?

I broke the Stage 3 clutch, or at least the springs inside, so im going with the unsprung hub stage 4 to avoid the problem again.

Also, If anyone wants a good deal on a used stag3 let me know. Wink

Unsprung is no good for daily driver.  Chirps on every launch.  Not good if there is a cop around  Angry  I have the stage three, and I've had good luck with it.  I thought about upgrading to the four, but then I learned about why they're not good for DD.  Check Horsepowerfreaks.com  they have good prices on clutches.  They used to price match too.

Im very famaliar with the difference b/t a sprung and unsprung hub. We used to run an unsprung in our GF ITR (10 sec car, but was still DD'en -- essentially on or off, no slip).

These clutches are to expensive to replace every year, so Im not about to put another stage 3 in and risk having the same thing happen again next year.

Thanks for the refferal.

Can't you take the clutch apart and just replace the springs?

Spec stage 4 clutch is in.

What spec says:
Quote
Types of Driving: Drag, Drift, Road Race, Rallye, Pulling, Circle Track

For heavily modified engines or engines of any modification level being used in the above driving environments, where an instantaneous engagement and light weight are beneficial. Not street-friendly due to harsh engagement.

Is a 6 puck clutch, unsprung hub.

Maybe its just because the clutch isnt broken in yet, but the engagement really isnt bad at all.   Def a diferent feel than the sprung hub clutches, but its still controlable and not harsh at all, unless your not paying attention or come of the clutch quickly.  Pedal isnt much heavier if at all than the sprung hub stage 3.

Now I need to call up Spec and see if theyll fix the springs in my old stage 3, so I can sell it

wish i woulda seen this earlier. Lotta srt guys run a 6 puck clutch in their car, and it's not too hateful for a street car (I have one on order for mine too). It's when u get down to the 4 and 3 puck clutches that you're screwed lol

The stage 3 was a 6 puck clutch too, so wasnt worried baout that -- was more concerned about pedal ffel since the stage 4 is an unsprung hub.

Reguardless, stage 4 is in the car, have about 700 miles on it now, and though it does bite hard (and a lot harder now than when it was first in the car), have been able to get through traffic so far with it..
